I have lived in little towns my whole life, but for a change I went to a large city. It was an experience I will never forget. My dad is in the military, and early in the year he got told he would be working at the Pentagon. Because of this, my dad moved into DC. My brothers and I are going to my dad’s, and he lives in Washington DC. I have never been in a large city to stay the night, all we ever did in one was drive through them or sometimes stop to get something to eat. I was worried about getting lost, getting left on a metro, and millions of other things. School was out, and me and my family (mom, brothers, and sister) started our way to DC. I got super nervous, then realized my dad turned the other direction then I did. I had to run after him, and luckily I caught up to him. We spent the whole day in DC sightseeing, and me and my family had a blast. I realized that it was not as bad as I think. We got back on the metro, and this time I was not nervous. My brothers were talking, and one of them exclaimed “That was the coolest thing ever!”. It was a very interesting experience for all of us. We went home and went straight to bed. We woke up the next day, and our dd surprised us by telling us, “We are going to watch the Nationals play!” This will be me and my brothers first major league sports game we attended. I would have been nervous about the thousands of people, but going into the city made it where I was not

For the next five years I lived in White Plains, New York and living there was unique, in that owning a vehicle was obsolete. I was able to walk to the store, the park and to school. The ability to walk everywhere gave my the opportunity to build relationships with my whole community and to many, it may come as surprise that even with living in a big city most of the people living within it knew each other. Even though I come from a culturally distinct country and lived in the city that never sleeps I can only call Baltimore, Maryland my home. Living in Baltimore, has had a big impact on my life because it has shaped my identity and personality.…

On a typical pleasant day of June, I heard someone coming through the hallway like a motorcycle passing by. The alpine white door opened and my brother picked me up into the air and said "We're moving!" I looked at him confused thinking about "Where are we go" or " Why are we leaving?" Moving from Queens to Long Island has taught me to become a better student; achieved more by particiapate in programs , and activities. Born in Los Angeles California yet raised in “Drip City” also known as Houston Texas. Though these two environments are quite different, Something that didn't change was the family I would be raised in. Growing up in a family which which has taught me to respect my culture and morals as well as embrace my religion has paved the way for me as an individual to take a more broad understanding of the world. The person I am today reflects not only what my family has made out of me, but my surroundings as well. When moving to Houston when i was 3, my Father stayed in california so that our family had a steady source of income.…

As a child I moved about every three years, because my dad was a officer in the Marine Corps. By age eight I had to leave the United States and move across the world to the island of Okinawa, Japan. Okinawa is a very tropical island, much like Hawaii or any other coastal place like that. The process of actually moving to Japan involved a total of twenty four hours on commercial flights and twelve hours in an airport for a layover. When my mother and I finally arrived we were greeted at the airport by my dad who had left before us to get things situated for our arrival.…

This summer I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Chicago with my youth group. This experience changed my life in ways I cannot comprehend, and really opened my eyes to see how imperfect this world is and that a little help can go a long way. It was a great experience to dedicate my time to serve in multiple food kitchens, thrift stores, children centers, and church ministries. Going to a big city, where there is a lot of crime, people with nothing and living on the streets, children misbehaving in classes because at home the only way they can get attention sometimes is by misbehaving, is just very overwhelming. I love my community and I would not have wanted to be born and raised anywhere else, however living in such a small rural…

This summer I traveled without my parents for the first time. I remember my parents dropping Josh and I off at the airport then suddenly I started feeling nervous for no reason. I felt my stomach drop as I thought of the thousands of things that could go wrong, thoughts of 9/11 and terrorist attacks or thoughts of the Malaysian plane that disappeared and was never found. Flashes of movies or shows like Lost or Arrow, where there 's a plane crash and they are stranded on an island. Before the that day I had been cocky and not worried at all about traveling without my parents because in my eyes I was all grown up.…
