Mock trial has not only changed me into a better person, but also a better student. Through acting as a witness I’ve learned to improvise and keep calm while under pressure. I’ve learned how to be neutral even when I have bias for a particular side. Through the practices I’ve learned about the judicial system and laws. I’ve learned how to compromise for the better of the team. As a member of the team I’ve learned that my opinion matters and deserves to be heard. No longer am I afraid to express how I feel to others but I know how to do it the proper way.
I feel that nursing and mock trial include many of the same principles. Even though they seem to have nothing common, both have the same goal; to help their client to the best of their abilities. In nursing you have to be willing to compromise and work with other nurses to ensure that a patient gets the best possible care. I expect to use many of the skills I’ve learned as a nurse and in my everyday life.
Mock Trial has sparked a passion in me I never knew I had. I’ve never been so dedicated and excited like this before. I honestly don’t remember what my life was like before mock trial and I don’t know what it would be like right now If I had never joined. But if there is one thing I’m sure about is that I don’t regret my decision to
