An early morning on September 20th, 2014, the day of the Miss Teen Latina Global Cultural Pageant produced by Virgelia Productions; I felt numb to all my emotions, everything appeared to be a dream. While I was getting my hair and makeup done at eight o’clock in the morning, the bright sunny day felt like any other. However, conversing with my well-known makeup artist seemed to increase my confidence, and arouse a sense of excitement within me.

This confidence provided me with the courage needed to enter the stage wearing "garments of war" against the preconceived notions of how women should dress like. For the second portion, being around the other thinner girls in their swimwear made me feel super conscious about my body, since I had a little more pounds than them. However, my trainer assured me that I was just exaggerating and that I looked amazing. When I wasn’t judging myself and actually acknowledging my beauty, I admired my reflection in the mirror. I loved how my lightly tanned toned skin looked with the tiffany blue bathing suit, and realized I was no longer a
