The letter arrived on a chilly Friday afternoon, towards the beginning of February. Remains of hard thick snow on the ground from the snowstorm a few days before. My family and I waited for weeks for a special letter to come, one that in some ways decided my future. Waiting for that letter to come made the week restless. That day, it finally came. I even remember what I wore that day, I was wearing my bronco jersey because every Friday I wore it. The day long, and boring until around the beginning of 6th period, I got a text from my mom with a picture attached. I opened the message, and saw a picture of a closed envelope with the Holy Family logo on it. Feeling ecstatic, and excited to get home, the rest of 6th period felt like forever. My mom drove out of my school and parked in a parking lot so I could read it. I carefully, but quickly opened the letter while she videotaped me. Dear Ashley Newport, Congratulations! The Admissions team at Holy Family has reviewed your application, You have been accepted as a member of Holy Family High School’s class of 2020! The news I’ve been waiting to hear! I got in! All my hard work paid off, after getting recommendations, writing essays, taking tests, keeping my grades up, after all the stress, I got into my dream school. My mom and I both cried happy tears, and hugged each other so tight, we were both so happy that I got in, because I’ve wanted to go to Holy Family for years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my mom as proud as she looked that day. After hearing this great news I called my dad and told him and he was very happy for me, and I also called my grandma and grandpa and they were very proud of me

When I open this letter, I will be a Calvin College student sitting on an old couch in my crappy apartment. Surrounded by the infinite amount of college papers and textbooks, you will basically be drowning yourself in your own clutter. However, you will still be happy with it, despite its messy condition, because it’s your apartment. You will live by yourself instead of your family, so instead of waking up to the sound of dad’s screeching coffee maker every day at six in the morning on the dot, you’ll wake up to the sexy voice of Jay Park. The apartment you will live in will be all white, minimalist as possible.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…
