Approaching her sitting at the laptop around our ancient wooden dining table I questioned, “What’s up?” “Do you still want to help teach the younger kids at church on Wednesdays?”
“Sure, why not? I’ll be there anyways.” “Ok, which age group do you want to help out with?”
“Um…” I responded apprehensively as I glanced at the the signup sheet, “Well, can you sign me up for 4th grade?” “Are you sure? There isn’t much of an age difference, what if they disrespect you?”

The next Wednesday was the last summer youth group, I decided that I should go considering I hadn’t been all summer. Meeting a lot of people around the fire pit that night, I was touched that none of them were going to be freshman. Plus when I said I go to West Central they all asked “oh where’s that at?”. Great! However this didn’t keep me from meeting new

Despite his sudden awe at her presence, Sophie's reluctant demeanor wasn't lost on Kevin. It was discouraging, but he gave a deep breath (one he realized, too late, was probably audible) and waited as she came closer, trying not to stare too blatantly at her shapely legs as they made her skirt swish like a curtain hiding restless performers backstage. He unbuttoned the top button of his plaid flannel shirt and another breath escaped. As she explained her timid goal for the sessions, it did nothing for Kevin's discouragement, and there was even a bit of resentment in there, too. She was clearly just trying to coast by, and had no intention of paying him the attention he was giving her.…

This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

Drying out one pot and moving onto the next, Joan reflected on the fact that Harvest Festival preparations were in full swing. It seemed as if everyone in the city was cooking, baking treats, decorating, planning, or helping set up. Accommodating thousands of people on the castle grounds required a good deal of work. Although King Arthur and Queen Guinevere made it clear they’d provide food (including the traditional roast goose), drink, and entertainment, it was customary for people to bring along their own special dishes or other contributions, such as musical instruments, knucklebones, nine pins, lengths of rope for tug-of-war, and leaves, sticks, and cloth scraps for children’s masks and costumes.…

In the seventh grade, I faced a large transition in life. The previous year I had experienced middle school for the first time, but I would make that entrance again. I moved from Texas to North Dakota, where seventh grade was the first year of middle school. I took on those same fears and hopes that I had faced before, but in an unfamiliar place where I had no one except for family to give me support. I tried a lot of new things that year, mainly wrestling.…
