Personal Narrative: Me As A Writer

Decent Essays
For me, writing like many things the better I get the more I realized how much skill and work it takes to be a good writer. I think I have learned a lot so far I have also realized how much there is for me to learn. As an type A person I tend to hold myself to high standards, which can make me a bad judge of myself. There are parts of my writing that I think have been pretty good, but there has been other assignments where I feel I didn’t do so feel because I didn’t have the time to work on it. I know I have missed three assignments working on time management is a must and double checking that I have everything done that is due that day is also a must. I have become more comfortable in my writing overall as well as sharing my writing in general.

I didn’t know what I was in for after that day. A writer’s key experiences is what makes them different from other writers and is crucial to their growth as a writer. The writing I composed in Mrs. Heningburg’s class was central to my development as a writer because it made me more confident in my writing and made me more aware of others reading my work as a writer. After hearing my last writing assignment's result in the class, I started expecting a high scoring on my writing works. The compliment about my essay from my sixth-grade teacher changed me, so let's start from the beginning.…

At first I wanted to be a writer, and along with most people my age, I had stories I wanted to tell. I felt that writing was the best way to move those stories into the real world, but as I went through school, I realized that I did not have enough skill as a writer to maintain a living off of these stories hence I decided to move into a career path that suited my way of thinking. That was when I began to teach myself how to code instead. All I had to begin with was my phone, so I found apps that taught basic coding ideas. While I used to think I had no meaning in life programming gave me goals to feel accomplished with which helped with these feelings.…

Unit one was interesting for me since I had never known about many of the skills we learned about before. Learning how to read like a writer was especially frustrating for me. I usually never care about the way an essay is written; I mostly only pay attention to the message. As we were learning how to read like writers, I found myself getting thinking that the whole concept seemed pedantic. I thought if a writer has written an essay, shouldn't we spend time dissecting that message and debating it instead of worrying about word choice and transitions?…

Although I am only a thirteen-year-old, there are about three whole things that some people may not know about me. First of all, my favorite hobby, among others, is playing video games. Unlike many people who play console, mobile, or PC games, I enjoy using tactics and strategy. Most gamers in today's gaming society enjoy holding the trigger or mouse button and spraying bullets back and forth until they can get a kill. However, when I play online games such as Battlefield or Medal of Honor, I like to use tactics and sneak up on my enemy.…

In my university course work to date, this is my first actual writing course. I will admit that upon reflection, this seems a bit frightening because I fear that I may not be as skilled as I should be in writing at this juncture in my educational journey. With this in mind, I cannot delineate many strategies that I have developed that have worked for me to improve my writing. One thing I have done in my courses to date, has been to read other student’s writings in discussion posts in order to determine how they organize their writing. I then evaluate what I believe is the most effective way they communicate their main points and supporting details.…

Growing up, I always loved to write. From short stories about damsels in distress as a child to controversial articles for my high school newspaper, expressing myself through the written word constantly motivated me to become my best self. I enjoyed entertaining and informing others from the minute I learned how to form sentences, and though my content was not Pulitzer Prize worthy, it was enough to put a smile on the faces around me, including my own. The interesting part with this however, wasn’t that I loved to write, but why.…

My experience in writing is mostly journaling, I write short stories, poetry and have participated in writing classes. I graduated in 2011 with my MS in Adult Education, these past few weeks are a reminder of the involvement necessary for an online course, along with the writing of papers. However, this academic writing experience has already given me pause for learning new ways to do things, researching, the concepts of academic tone, ensuring proper APA formatting, which I have confidence(shaken); but staring at a blank screen attempting to write these different paper assignments is taking more time than I am expected, based on my previous courses. The thought process is generating in many directions at this time. Normally, I am a detailed…

As part of my communications course I have to produce a personal writing essay. My personal writing will be about something that has changed my outlook on life. Like the start of most years I was trying to stick to a new year’s resolution which I found hard straight from the start as I had no drive or determination what so ever. When on the 8th of January everything for me changed as I started to develop a weird sensation in my face and mouth. As most males my age I just choose to ignore it and hoping it would go away which it didn’t.…
