My parents were so excited there last born was finally in high school. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the night before. My excitement came from all my older sister going to high school and me wanting to know what was so different, and why couldn’t I be in classes with all my sisters.
I thought it would be all fun and games like the movie High School Musical. It definitely was a different change. There was so many students for there to be only 4 grade levels their. The teachers expected so much from you in such little time. My hardest subject started to get even harder. There was so many stairs. I personally met most of my closest friends in 9th grade and reunited with my middle school friends too. I wasn't so scared when I got there because most of the students was from my middle school. The scary part was we really didn’t have any classes together so I was with all the strange faces. I tries to get my schedule changed, but the counselor said that class I wanted to be in was already full. I got friends faster than I thought I would. Plus me and all my middle school friends had lunch together. Most of all the girls I met in school was through old friends bringing them around, in class, and the volleyball team. Nyeila, Maruea, Chantal and Jamoni are the few people I still talk to faithfully. I miss them so much they have been nothing but supportive thought out my transition from school and homes. Crazy, overwhelming, exciting, a freshman now that was how I felt walking through the doors of the school. I didn’t know what to expect from that year. A-day and B-day was something that confused me because of the different times we got out of class. My Freshman year was very different for me because I had changed from Franklinton Middle School to Bunn High School. I hated it at Bunn because I did not fit in and I felt like a outcast. There was some crazy looking people there but I am not the type to judge but they were some weird people. After a few days people started letting me sit with them because I would sit at lunch by myself.…

Maquoketa, upon my initial impression when I moved here in 2012, was a small quiet town and although that is something that I now I know it is also so much more. I was in middle-school when I first came but it was in high school that I truly grew to appreciate the wonderful community. My first year of high school was certainly unnerving, although I had previously attended an elementary and middle school that were more than double its size it still held an allure of suspense over what may soon come.…

This year is my first year in high school. It’s a lot different than I expected. When I thought about high school, I thought about bullies, constant homework, cliques, and kids getting shoved in lockers, but I haven’t seen any of that so far. In lots of movies, there are horrible queen bees and musical lunchrooms. That’s a scary prospect, so it’s a good thing those are just for entertainment purposes.…

I was born on July 5, 2000, my birth mother decided to put my up for adoption. About two to three weeks later I was adopted by a 40 year old woman, Nanette and her similarly aged husband, Robert. From what my parents tell me about when I was younger was that I was a quiet, well behaved kid, but when I saw someone my age I would become friend with them right away. Some of my earliest memories I can recall are in preschool. The things I remember are just small clips of what the actual events really were.…
