Crofton used to be a very small town, the only real landmarks were the highways surrounding it until recently when the population started to grow exponentially. In 2011 Crofton was rated eighty-two out of one hundred on Money Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Live (Jenkins, 2011). Crofton has come a long way in size as well as reputation. The demographics of Crofton is simple, many people that live in Crofton have a similar socio-economic status. The population in 2010 was 27,348, now there are most likely more people (City-data, 2016). There is a fifty-fifty ratio of males to females with both genders having about 13,670 people (City-data, 2016). The median resident age is thirty-five years old (City-data, 2016), although there is a large range from newborns to elderly. Crofton is a predominantly white community with 73.9 percent of residents being only White, although 13.7 percent of residents are Black, 4.6 percent are Hispanic, 3.9 percent are Asian, 2.8 percent are of a mixed race, and the last .9 percent is categorized as other (City-data, 2016). In the population that is twenty-five and older, 96.5 percent of residents have their high school diploma or higher and 23.7 percent have their Graduate or professional degree (City-data, 2016).
