This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because…

"A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives" yes it is me Jackie Robinson the man who has come from beginnings that some might of gave up on but not me. I was born in Cairo,Georgia in the year 1919, now growing up I didn't have the best childhood but my mother Mallie still loved me and my four other siblings. Wish I could say the same about my dad Jerry but for him work came before family so he didn't have much time for the five of us not even mother, but I didn't let that get me down. I still went out with my older brother and played ball with him, I remember when myself and him went to the local baseball field I came to watch him and his friends play but they were short a man weighing their options they decided to…

So it started out as a normal school day and as we were coming back from lunch we all went to the restroom and only six of us got taken. As we were using the restroom Andrew Myers, Jahzara Mckinney, Kadance Gravely, Maddox Lyons, Hayden Elliott, Kaylie Hawks and myself were pulled into the sewers and through a pipe that somehow took us to a island. We were stranded there by ourselves the island was like a forest in a way it has tall redwood trees high grass like the jungle and a beautiful glossering pond. So as we were there we were all panicking then I just got really quiet. We went to bed and the next morning Hayden and Jahzara were fighting over food we had from killing Andrew we had a lot of food left over from yesterday but both Jahzara and Hayden wanted that same piece.…

The Devon School was once full of life and everyone was happy that is, until I came. The boys really thought they knew who I was but they were completely wrong. This all began at the Devon school I met Gene, Finny, Leper, Brinker, and the other students. At first when I met Gene I was suspicious of him because I felt he was not trustworthy and was conservative. However, I noticed that Finny trusted everyone, including Gene, which he was humble and did not brag about how athletic or cool he was.…

It is crazy to think that America went through these time. It is sad to know that many people from all over had to go through this experience, especially African-Americans. You are definitely right to think that anyone who trusted in the separate but equal statement were out of their minds, and i also agree. I am also thankful that we as American have taken huge steps in bettering our ways of thinking and have moved forward since…

History unlocks the doors to the past and holds the key for the future. History has always intrigue my state of mind. It leads me to ponder the question “What if I lived in this era?” I have always imagined living in an unconventional time due to the fact, of living through a historical moment. I would have enjoyed viewing Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream speech or living through the Gold Rush; but above all notions I would of truly enjoyed living in Los Angles in the early 1900’s.…

Journal Ed Welch talked about how our histories can impact us, particularly in dealing with conflict. God used this to help me see how I approach conflict as a gardener would his garden. I have a family member who approaches it more like a sword-yielding gladiator, and this has led to struggles. Realizing these differences has vastly improved our relationship. A dear friend of mine recently experienced a conflict with another individual.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

I am an honor student, a certified nursing assistant, and a Robinson Leader. I rise to the top of many of my classes although I am usually the youngest. Getting to where I am today was not easy.…
