Personal Narrative: Maple Syrup

“We need to hurry,” my grandmother said while taking cupcakes out of the oven. “Let's get the frosting done.” We mixed the frosting. Adding sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. I turned on the beater. The whir of the blender woke me up as I watched the mixture go around. After the main ingredients got mixed my grandmother looks over. “ What kind of frosting is that?” “Normal I guess” I stutter. I was nervous and running out of time. “We can’t have that. How about we use some of the maple syrup you sold to flavor it?” She asked me. I grinned, I love maple syrup. I grabbed the maple syrup jug. It was a large, glass jug with about a gallon of the amber syrup inside. I opened it and thin strings of syrup followed the lid. I grab a towel and wipe up the mess. Drip, drop goes the syrup into the dish. “ Is that enough syrup?” I asked. “I think it could use a little more. Plop! I grimaced, that was too much. My grandmother looks over and laughs. Not a mean or angry laugh, a jolly laugh that could make anyone smile. “Lets add some flour to it okay?” She said after laughing. I dump some flour into the bowl. It made a puff of white smoke that made me sneeze. I grab a large spoon and start hand mixing the frosting. …show more content…
Inside there was two green bottles, one blue bottle, and one yellow bottle of dye. “What colors are you thinking of?” My grandmother asked. “What about blue yellow and white?” I suggested. “The FFA colors I like it.” She said smiling. “Remember only a few drops. You can always add more, but you cant take it back out.” “Okay.” I said. I scoop about a third of the frosting into a clean bowl. I grab the yellow dye. Drip, drip, squirt! Well that is probably too much. How do I keep doing this. I stir in the dye. I created a vibrant yellow. “Does this look good?” I ask “It looks perfect!” My grandmother exclaimed. “You know what Grandma?” I asked. “What is it” She replied. “I think we will make it in time after
