It is the morning of July 4th, 2008: I groan as my mother gently whispers, “teneshi yene mar (Get up honey)”. Struggling I open my eyes and notice the trembling cabin, I turn to my mother with a look of concern and she reaches out her hand and squeezes my own looking up at me, “we are going to be okay Mar”. A couple of moments later our plane has landed, we gather up our belongings and make our way towards the exit filled with people attached to their screens and MP3 players. The airport is filled with an undercurrent of anticipation, impatience, and boredom; bodies scramble back and forth from one gate to another. My mother, attempting to balance three children, clasps my hand, holds my little brother to her waist and calls back to my older…

While rummaging through various documents, searching for material required for the completion of this analysis, I recognized that there are overlapping and recurring themes which clearly point to who I am as a professional and, thus, the direction in which my professional life should proceed, public service. Therefore, my professional mission statement is, “To vigorously perform my responsibilities as a public administrator and to enhance the quality of public service by providing my clients with dedication, honesty and a commitment to make the best interest of all, my first priority.”…

So here's a story. Last week was exhausting. Saturday I was scheduled to leave Greenville to go to Augusta to get my girlfriends stuff with a Uhaul and some friends, and pretty much everything that went wrong could. The Uhaul was booked until 3, even though it had been reserved weeks in advance at an earlier time, and this cost us 2 of our helpers due to scheduling conflicts. There is one principle foundation I try to follow in life: balancing things. One of the most challenging human characteristics for me is controlling my desires, which results in high expectations for things. When I want something to happen, but it ends up not occurring, I tend to stress out and have bad moods. To minimize future burdens, I consistently remind myself not to hold high hopes; however, that does not mean I cannot look forward to anything. It just means to moderately inhibit the desires to manage any risks of it affecting me negatively.…
