Made Of The Mist

Standing at the top of the falls, all I hear is the rushing water over the falls. I can’t believe how beautiful, clear, loud, and big it really is. Below us the tour boats look so small and I see the them getting closer and closer to the falls. Now I’m starting to regret saying I would go on the boats because of the thundering water hitting the rocks and the big waves. “They get so close to the falls”, I mumble to myself. I start freaking out even more, it’s time for us to start heading down the elevator and get ready to go

The waterfall wasn’t as big as Yosemite Falls but watching the little droplets fall and the light hitting it at just the right angle, and watching all the different woodland species prance about, going along with their day, without a care in the world, made it look and feel like it was a paradise from a movie. We weren’t being disrupted by loud car horns because we were alone with ourselves, our thoughts, and the wilderness. The water rushing echoed in the distance and the pitter patter of the water flow pounds onto the rocks below. Located at the bottom was a serene pool which we would sometimes swim in. Every time there is a possibility for us going to Mount Shastina I am filled with joy and nostalgia longing to recreate more…

The water was just as welcoming as it had been on the night when Rainsford had fallen off the yacht; not at all. However, he supposed wildly flailing in the deep murky blue of the ocean was better than being torn apart by the pack of hounds. Though the room erupts in applause and cheers the moment I finish, I feel I scammed the patrons with my substandard performance. The sorrow I incarcerated behind my mask, began to leak as I observed the inhibitions of Alice melting away with every guzzle of her drink. The amorous gazes she shared with Angelo caused the heavy stone to expand, along with the tear in my chest to rip further, inviting the agonising pain to intensify. I focused my stare ahead of me, into the abyss, but it was too late, the image had imprinted in my mind, forever tarnishing all memories of Angelo.…

Andrew O’Kula A small streak of pink began to emanate from a slim point along the horizon as the late afternoon slipped into the evening. Although bile rose in her throat, Raine swallowed and forced herself to breath shallow as her eyes linked with the man who had spoken, the odor of decaying fish breath permeating the air around him. A faded, red bandanna was wrapped around his head where slippery, seaweed-like hair peeked out from beneath. Intense frown lines cut through his darkly tanned features that were speckled by colossal black pores. Brownish teeth, some missing, were visible behind his dry, cracked lips and little gray needles made up a sparse beard over his leathery skin. Worn and beaten attire covered his gangling frame and in her peripheral vision she could see he was barefoot, though she dared not look down.…

There must be so many memories you two shared.”…
