After 4 hours of math, science and history it was finally time to get our stuff and walk over to the junior high for the 8th grade graduation rehearsal. I needed to go get my stuff from my locker with the other 150 kids that also needed their stuff. I fight through all those people and managed to get to my locker. During this weekend, I can say that I experienced all three levels of communication. It is something that at first, I did not realize that I was being that particular way. During the course of my day, then I would realize. For example, the I-It communication level is something that I experience everyday and I’m sure we all do. When I pick up my coffee, when I buy clothes, and when I walk into a store etc.…

Working in an office, specifically in the front desk, to many is a mundane, straight forward, pretty repetitive job. What could be so awful about working in an office, right? I unfortunately work at a taxicab company and let me start of by saying that there is nothing mundane about this place. Struggling I open my eyes and notice the trembling cabin, I turn to my mother with a look of concern and she reaches out her hand and squeezes my own looking up at me, “we are going to be okay Mar”. A couple of moments later our plane has landed, we gather up our belongings and make our way towards the exit filled with people attached to their screens and MP3 players. The airport is filled with an undercurrent of anticipation, impatience, and boredom; bodies scramble back and forth from one gate to another. My mother, attempting to balance three children, clasps my hand, holds my little brother to her waist and calls back to my older…

For me it actually started when I was in the seventh grade, my mom received the rights to take care of my ill grandfather (her father). Turns out he was suffering from early age dementia; caused from drinking at an early age which happened to be 12.…

I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…
