Did you know cancer affects you and your family more than you think? Cancer has a huge impact on people around the world. As I thought about Cancer , some questions that came to head was: How many people are diagnosed with cancer a year? What is cancer? What about cancer does people not know about? What are the problems it causes? My family has been affected by cancer a lot, that’s why I picked this topic, when I had to chose one in class.Overall my main question is, How does cancer affect you, your family members,and friends?

Since she is, I went to the library again to find some websites about cancer survivors. I found many useful websites and wrote them down on paper. I read through all of the websites and decided to use the website: ( http://www.nscd.org/cancer-survivorship-issues ), I came across where it said “ In America alone, more than 15.5 millon people are alive today after being diagnosed with cancer.” The people that are survivors still have to go through problems and emotional things including their family and friends. I wanted to know a little more because of my nana being survivor, I can help her if I find anything I don’t know , so I looked more things up on the website and I found that it can lead to a host of problems in its wake. “Physical, emotional, and financial hardships often persist for years after diagnosis and treatment.” Also they are a greater risk of having second cancers and health …show more content…
So, what is cancer? It is “a malignant and invasive growth or tumor, especially one originating in the epithelium, tending to recur after excision and to metastasize to other sites.” Many people think it’s a “deadly disease” but it’s not just that, the patient can make it through it if they eat right, get the right amount of sleep, exercise, and go to their doctor appointments. How does cancer affect the patient, their family and friends? It can cause a lot of emotional feelings to all of them, they can get stressed because of the role changes for kids and adults. It can cause money issues with the family with all of the cancer treatments and doctor appointments. Survivors have a higher chance of getting a second cancer and other health conditions, so the family will have to go through it all over again. The most important thing is the family just needs to stay together and do what it takes to help out, stay strong because if not it can drag them down and cause more problems.
