Have you ever imagined what it would be like to be in WWII? To wake up everyday and think you may not make it back home, to risk your life for the greatest country on Earth? Well, my great uncle John had those same thoughts going through his head, during his time of service in WWII. He was in a tank battalion that was sent to Italy. John was a technical sergeant, while the remainder of his crew were below the rank of an NCO. He presumed that he was going to serve pretty much the entire war, and he hadn't really minded his job. John had a brother named Albin who was serving in Europe at the time. However, Albin's service and life tragically ended aboard the S.S. Leopoldsville while being sent to Belgium to act as reinforcements

At the time, all I could feel was the absolute joy that I got from spending my time with her. We had our entire happiness in the future planned out, a dream wedding and all, but maybe that was the reason why I wouldn’t have ever imagined that I would be feeling so lost and empty just a few years later, alone and missing a part of myself.…

It was a rainy morning in Seattle, and I wore my Army dress uniform. Stepping off the bus, I ran 100 yards to the entrance of the Airport. I suppose I should have worn my civilian clothes, but I had been stateside six months, and the comradeship I experienced in Vietnam had yet to loosen its grip on me.…

Preface When I had to decide whose story to I should write my biographical narrative, the only person that came to my mind at first was my grandmother, Connie Kim. Though I was planning to write her memories of the Korean War, I realized that there would be many stories that would be similar to each other. However, my grandmother has her own unique story: her story of working as a secretary in the Korean government during the 1960s, during Park Chung-hee’s regime. Whenever I meet my grandparents once or twice a year, I am surprised by my old grandmother’s good memory and organization skills, along with her ability to stay healthy. Both of these skills were vital to her job; it seems that she did not lose these skills even after changing jobs.…
