Though I am still young, I believe myself to be incredibly ready for the independence and knowledge that going to the Governor's School will bring. I have always been more mature in my behaviors and mannerisms, which oftentimes makes me feel as if schooling is too easy or boring for me. I would be excited to go to a learning community such as this one that will bring me challenges and allow me to reside with others of my age that also desire a greater learning community. I have been away from home on multiple occassions, including ECU Band Camp, among other summer camps, for a week. I also believe that I have a great independence, and sometimes I crave this independence while at home.…

This was an even bigger deal for me as I had just had a tough Freshman year. My once best friends had become acquaintances and although I had new friends I didn't really have a group and, to quote Greys Anatomy, I didn't have a “person”. That was one of the more bittersweet changes I had to face. But it led to my decision to go to Costa Rica and my experience in Costa Rica changed my perspective of myself and really was the reason I felt confident enough to go to a new school;…
