Personal Narrative: Life After The Second World War

On the subject of history and religious atrocities, just after the second world war, our labour government in cooperation with the catholic church, and a few other lesser organisations, sent a load of orphans, and some kids that weren't orphans but were told they were, to live in Australia, told about a land of milk and honey and warm weather. Many if not all were sent to work on farms or on construction jobs, a lot of them were abused, beaten and made to work long hours. Kid's that suffered the most were boys sent to a place called Blindoon just north of Perth,( where Hazel lives) it was an institution run by the catholic brothers but built by the orphans. These were all kids under 16, up to 10,000 kids were sent there, most in the late 40's but it went on until mid 60's, not one of our brightest hours. Not to be confused with kids sent to Canada during the 2nd world war for protection, and returned to their families after the war when their fathers came home from the front. 500 YThat was a long …show more content…
Oh yes I'd forgotten about Lassie and Flipper and another programme in the same format as those 2, Skippy, the bush kangaroo, did you get that ? I take it you haven't been to your aquarium then, I'm not so keen on dolphins and seals doing tricks like that, though I can see it could be the only way some people can see them, I think such animals belong in the wild. Yes I've finished with my health trainer and only one appointment left at pain clinic, so another disappointment comes to an end, I've achieved nothing really, I don't know what to do next. Bye for now, enjoy your week

She was one of the girliest girls I knew since grade school, with her stylish culottes and pink garments of all different shades for all different occasions. She was the epitome of a mixture between pure innocence and quirk that boldly took her rightful place in the middle of my heart. Mary Anne wasn’t just all of that; she was also my affectionate girlfriend, my warm-hearted best friend who I could talk about anything with, from the most trivial things to the very meaning of our whole existence. At the time, all I could feel was the absolute joy that I got from spending my time with her. We had our entire happiness in the future planned out, a dream wedding and all, but maybe that was the reason why I wouldn’t have ever imagined that I would be feeling so lost and empty just a few years later, alone and missing a part of myself.…

    • Rebuilding schools • Fix the Railroad • Repair all farmland and farming equipment • Repair all factories, bridges, and canals If I was a northern government official assigned to help the south during reconstruction following the civil war I would start by help rebuilding schools. I would help schools by supplying money for books. Instead of being a white school it would benefit both races. I would help fix the railroad because railroad are needed for shipping goods, food, and weapons. I would hire all former slaves to help rebuild the railroad.…

It was a rainy morning in Seattle, and I wore my Army dress uniform. Stepping off the bus, I ran 100 yards to the entrance of the Airport. After I purchased my ticket and checked my bags, I headed to the bar. It was the time of the winter equinox, and I was headed home with my discharge in my duffle bag. I suppose I should have worn my civilian clothes, but I had been stateside six months, and the comradeship I experienced in Vietnam had yet to loosen its grip on me.…

While I was thinking about my problem, Cush came by and told me it was time to get my mules ready, so we could deliver supplies to the Yankees. Later on, we got ordered to form into a wagon train and we soon started our journey. After traveling for some time, we arrived at a warehouse, where we had to pick up our supplies.…

So it started out as a normal school day and as we were coming back from lunch we all went to the restroom and only six of us got taken. As we were using the restroom Andrew Myers, Jahzara Mckinney, Kadance Gravely, Maddox Lyons, Hayden Elliott, Kaylie Hawks and myself were pulled into the sewers and through a pipe that somehow took us to a island. We were stranded there by ourselves the island was like a forest in a way it has tall redwood trees high grass like the jungle and a beautiful glossering pond. So as we were there we were all panicking then I just got really quiet. We went to bed and the next morning Hayden and Jahzara were fighting over food we had from killing Andrew we had a lot of food left over from yesterday but both Jahzara and Hayden wanted that same piece.…

Three goals I would set for my first 90 days entering in a role are; • Clarity • Challenges • Commitment First, I would like to get clarity of my job duties and expectations from my leader. Once I receive that information I would like to have some training classes if needed and a designated person for assistance. Secondly, I would try conquering my challenges by making a check list of do’s and don’ts and make sure that I follow up accordingly.…

The Devon School was once full of life and everyone was happy that is, until I came. The boys really thought they knew who I was but they were completely wrong. This all began at the Devon school I met Gene, Finny, Leper, Brinker, and the other students. At first when I met Gene I was suspicious of him because I felt he was not trustworthy and was conservative. However, I noticed that Finny trusted everyone, including Gene, which he was humble and did not brag about how athletic or cool he was.…

The only thing in the world that’s constant is war. It was an aphorism murmured in the sticky summer of 1864 as the Civil War tore America apart—and it was a truth that had only become more evident in my more than twenty years as a vampire. Every time I picked up the paper, there were stories of humans fighting humans: brawls on the streets of San Francisco, uprisings in India, insurrections all over Europe. And once blood had been shed and graves marked, they’d start all over again.…

In my understanding, that was my command to do. Give selfish treatment to one man but give all credible treatment to the other, who in all shed the same blood fighting. I became deeply distraught by this segregated treatment because of some set value one man has to have just by the color of his skin. In disgust, I still had to do what was meant for me to do. I would work on the black soldiers and a woman named Clara Barton would work on the white soldiers. I grew interest into wanting to know how she felt about this unfair situation, however it was prohibited to step near her or inside the white soldier’s tent.…

The Stolen Generations period was a devastating stage in time, causing a negative impact on Indigenous society and on the children and families civil and land rights and emotional wellbeing as a result of the forcible removal of Indigenous children. The term ‘Stolen Generations’ is used for Aboriginal people forcefully taken away (stolen) from their families, many to never see their parents, siblings or relatives again. (Korff. J, 2015). This had many short and long term consequences on the rights of the Indigenous families and communities; however, many steps have been taken today to resolve these issues.…
