Personal Narrative: Life After Adoption

“This is going to be great, we have been waiting a long time!” I remember telling my mom this before driving 2 ½ hours to adopt my sister Mia, “I know, we are all excited.” My mom responded.
Adopting my sister Mia was not an easy task. It was like a sunrise, before the adoption it is dark, and maybe scary, but after it is done and final, it is full of beauty and wonder. Our family knew we were going to adopt a little girl for a long time, but we had no idea who it was going to be. At that time of thinking about this, we were doing foster care for a girl named Madison, she was about 5 months old, and at that time we thought that we were going to adopt her, and after a couple of months of fostering her, we got a call saying that it could be

And even though we were disappointed we knew it was for the better, living with her mom, was better than her being adopted. “That’s alright,” my mom reassured us after telling us the news, “We will find another child.” And after about a month later. We got another call saying that Mia’s mom was putting her up for adoption. But, however, Mia was not born yet, her mom said that when she was born, she wanted my parents to take her right away, this was the case, as long as we wrote her a note every year after her adoption. So my parents left to met the mother, and when Mia was born, we took her home and began to care for her. It was a great time, she was cute, and though a little shy, she was happy most of the time and was always fun to play with. We took care of her for about 2 months until it was time to go the court in Detroit to get it finalized. So we all piled into the car, and drove 3 ½ hours to the court. Where we met our other family members, like our grandparents, great grandparents and other family members. A few minutes later, we went into the court
