Personal Narrative-Let's Hit The Road

The fright that went through my body made me want to curl up into a ball and cry. My heart was practically beating out of my chest. THUMP,THUMP,THUMP. My legs almost giving up on me. My eyes shut close. I tried opening them but they wouldn’t budge, afraid that a creature would be staring right back at me. It all started with a careless decision on a terrible camping trip. “Let’s hit the road!” My dad yells while carefully closing the trunk of our car. Hundreds of bags were stacked on top of each other filled with anything we could possibly need for 4 days. The sound of seatbelts clicking fill my ears as I climb into the car. For 2 hours it was me in the back seat, my parents in the front, repeated songs from the radio, and the millions of trees by the aside of the road. The sharp right turn makes me wake up from my thoughts. A big, worn out wooden sign reads “Pennsylvania Campground” in black letters. Setting up the tent should’ve been easy, but since it was our first time camping, it was more stressful and complex. I tried helping but I had no idea what I was doing, so I sat down and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. My family was lucky enough that the lake was right in …show more content…
The grass is dead and there are patches of cement in some areas.I sit down on the yellow grass and look at my surroundings. the field is embraced by thousands of tall trees. I have to tilt my head upwards in order to see their green leaves. I stand up and kick the ball a few times, but it's not that entertaining when you’re playing by yourself. I place the ball on the ground carefully not wanting it to roll, i run up and kick it as hard as I can. The ball goes flying in the air and lands with a thud somewhere near the edge of the trees. Emily is too focused on her skateboard to notice me walking away from her to retrieve the ball. As I reach the border between the field and the woods, the bright neon soccer ball is nowhere in sight. I was thrilled to be escaping from home and traveling to Gatlinburg. The cabin we would be renting was outstandingly gorgeous. I had my own full size bed , couch, and a full bathroom. Unfortunately it is a seven and half hour drive to the cabin from my house so of course we had to find something to do. We saw fifty out of fifty states, two provinces of Canada, and Great Britain license plates and the top three states we saw were Indiana, New York, and Ohio.…

I once thought I couldn’t believe in myself! I felt as if I were nothing but a sheet of glass that was completely useless. When there were gloomy days, I felt like broken glass that was scattered all over the ground and I wouldn’t be fixable. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…

“Wow!” I said to my dad as the coach bus rolled into the hilly parking lot of the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort on Mirror Lake. My eyes lit up with excitement like a dog seeing a new chew toy. The year was 2012, and I was a part of the Minnesota/Wisconsin Jr. Badgers also known as Team Lake Placid. The games were played at the Olympic Center where U.S.A beat the Soviet Union in 1980 in Lake Placid, New York.…

“Beep Beep Beep” It is 5 am and my hand can’t make it to the alarm clock before the voices in my head start telling me that it is too early and too dark to get up. But I did not ask for their opinion, I rise like a phoenix and before I know it, I am drenched in sweat and walking out an empty gym in route to the soccer field. Why you ask because I was told I was not good enough, too uncoordinated, and too tall to play soccer and I was on a mission to prove them wrong. There was a month left before the traveling soccer team that everyone told me I was not good enough to play for came back to town for their yearly tryouts.…

Clichés seem to always crowd the mind whenever we try to speak meaningfully about the things we love. In particular, the beautiful game of soccer always seems to mock our efforts to describe its genuine beauty. Nothing in the world could ever match the enjoyment of playing soccer.
