Ashley still wasn’t here so they would take advantage of the quiet day to play some games of chess. I don’t know if it was the heat of the day or the peace I felt here that I never felt at home, but I fell asleep pretty fast. The only problem was Jordan. Miles of concrete seemed to pile between us with this thought, confining ourselves to our own helpless jail cell. In his sophomore year of highschool, Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team and didn’t make it. This fault shocked him and he was embarrassed because of it. Sir Gawain was also embarrassed of his fault and even he had a scar to remind him of it. “And he showed them the scar at the side of his neck confirming his breach of faith, like a badge of blame.” (Armitage.2498) Michael Jordan will also always be reminded of his fault in his career.…

Facing Reality The music blared through the bar, loud and obnoxious in its pounding, in-your-face, club music-like sound, although it was soothing to Lila. She sat in a corner booth, nursing her third beer of the night, and just watched and listened, as if she was on the outside looking in. At one point, while Lila had been staring into space, letting the music fill her senses, it shifted into a quieter, softer song, and she snapped her head to the pitiful dance floor in the corner of the bar, where the patrons stopped their wild dancing and slowed it down, moving into each other, arms around waists, around shoulders. She looked particularly at one couple who were kissing as they swayed back and forth.…

I woke up and got ready like normal, and went to school, and I remember being really excited for that day because it was Friday and we played Sioux center that night in the basketball game. I was excited because that was always a good game, and there were always a lot of people there and it was a great atmosphere. That day we also had one of our early out days, which made the day even better because that meant that we wouldn’t get too much homework. I actually had a great day that day.…
