The garden was surrounded by red bricks which surprisingly made an excellent pillow. Next to me I could hear Anthony and Jordan sitting down and getting out a chess set from Anthony’s bag. Ashley still wasn’t here so they would take advantage of the quiet day to play some games of chess. I don’t know if it was the heat of the day or the peace I felt here that I never felt at home, but I fell asleep pretty fast. The only problem was Jordan. Jordan is good at heart but can be fairly competitive and abusive, especially when it came to Anthony and especially when it came to chess. “Are you sure you want to put that there?” Anthony asked. Anthony is a born cynic with an aptitude for apathy so there was no real condescension in his tone which causes me to maintain the conviction that Jordan’s reaction was a little overblown.
“Shut the f*** up! Of course I want to put that f***ing piece f***ing there! Just let me do my f***ing strategy so I can f***ing win this f***ing game!”
Jordan lost the game.
Ashley arrived a bit later, and as the least jaded out of the group, she brought with her a laid back atmosphere and a bit more comedy. Which of course was awful for
