When we lived in japan my hair would grow so slow because my hair was so fine that I looked like a boy most of my life. Living with blonde hair as a white child in Japan was unusual for the Japanese culture meaning that the japanese citizens would like to come up to me and touch my hair and I would always cry because it was one after another stranger touching my hair.
