I thoroughly enjoyed the surgery field trip, both the live knee surgery aspect of it and the Body World, as both parts allowed me to view the body through a new lens. A lot of information we’re taught in class has to do with theory using pictures straight from a coloring book, consequently meaning that we rarely ever get to see the real thing. For many of us, including me, our conception of reality regarding the body, muscles, bones, and our lifestyle in general is twisted. Going to Telus Spark helped clear up some misunderstandings, especially after being able to ask the surgeon and medical staff questions.
