“I need you to listen to me,” my mom said in a serious tone, “Get up, get dressed, a bag for a couple of days.” It wasn't even five in the morning yet. I had to get ready for school soon. I stared at her confused, not understanding why we had to leave. Nonetheless, I nodded anyway and she scurried out of my room. As I started packing, the realization of what was happening hit me. My grandfather was going through some serious health issues. Kidney failure and heart problems are just a couple of the obstacles he ran into with his health. I ran to the back room of our house where my mom was. “Is it Papa?” I asked hoping I was wrong. “Yes,” she answered. “Is he okay?” I asked. “No,” she responded. That familiar empty feeling crept up
