Personal Narrative: Keith Urban Concert

Improved Essays
I woke up with feelings of joy and excitement because today was the day. Later tonight, I would be at the Keith Urban concert. This day has been marked on my calendar since last December and noting that today is March 15, I’ve been waiting a long time. Seeing that I still had a few hours before we needed to head out, I took my time getting ready. My friends, Ericka, Sarai, John, and I packed into my car around four o’clock in the afternoon and began our journey to the Hollywood Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, where the concert was being held. After a 45 minute car ride, we had arrived. The sound of the opening act, Jerrod Nieman, echoed through the air as we made our way to the entrance of the amphitheater. Keep an eye out for some kettle corn while you’re wandering around, I’ve been craving some lately.”
With John holding our place our place on the lawn, us girls decided to check out the merchandise booth and pick up some snacks and a couple drinks for the concert. The sun was just beginning to set as we returned to John. The second opening act, Brett Elderedge, had just finished performing and Keith Urban would soon come on. The crowd also became aware of this and shouts of “Keith” began filling the stadium. The stage lights illuminated through the sky in different spectrums of colors. This was the moment I’ve been waiting for.
The night was becoming darker as the sun eased closer to the horizon. The roaring of an electric guitar filled the air. The crowd went silent as Keith Urban walked up onto the stage. Cheers so loud boomed through the stadium, you’d think we could be heard on the other side of the globe. The popular song “Sweet Thing” filled my ears as the whole crowd began chanting the words. As each song on the track list played, the lights surrounding the stage shone different colors and images making the music not only appealing to the ears, but visually as

Summer Twins Review: A Dreamy Dance Party Kicking off Valentine’s Day weekend with great music is not a bad way to dive into the holiday, for couples and singles alike. This last Friday, February 12, Summer Twins performed at Acerogami, Pomona, CA, joined by Veronica Bianqui. The entire event had a drinks-with-friends vibe, framed by the venue’s exposed brick, low lighting, projected music videos, and a few heart-shaped balloons at the stage. The beauty of smaller venues is the level of comfort they create. Conversation before and after the show flowed easily, from excitement about the performers to stray cats and operatic voicemails.…

Personal Narrative It took us about 3 hours to get to Shakopee, it was only 60 degrees, but with the thousands of people lined up, waiting to get in, it felt like 90. We stood in that line for two hours. For awhile, we talked, we met a variety of people, we laughed, we were excited. But once we got closer to the front of the line we all got quiet, this is it, we were in, we were all going to see our idols.…

Patrick knees are split as far apart in the seat as possible. He’s sat in many concert halls many times over, and he still can’t understand why the seats are so small, the rows packed in so tightly together. He arrives quite early and alone so he can sit in the middle of the row in the middle of the auditorium. This way he can avoid that whole dance of trying to allow big hipped women and round bellied men past him in his chair. The turnout tonight is good.…

    Pete Wentz's Fall Out Boy

Gray “Life is a deep and contemplative story stuck on repeat — love, loss, self-destruction, self-discovery” (1). Gray by Pete Wentz narrates the life of young Pete throughout the early years of Fall Out Boy, in which he was the bassist and songwriter. He struggled with drug abuse; more specifically with the anxiety and depression prescription drug Ativan, after he and his girlfriend broke up (more than once), which lead to two separate overdose attempts. Reading this story made me realize that so much more goes on behind the curtains of a musician’s life that they don’t share; we really need to appreciate the people who write and perform the songs we listen to every day, in sad times and happy, and the ones we hold so dear in our heart. We…

The theater buzzes with energy and excitement, magic flowing throughout the room for the first time in five years as Eddie Redmayne appears on the silver screen. The crowd roars to life as four men from Baltimore take the stage, a sight I have waited to see so long that it nearly brings me to tears. The world of the Norse Gods springs to life as I join the teenage demigod Magnus Chase on another death-defying adventure. A sea of blue and gold overtakes Rider Stadium on a beautiful June day, and I celebrate with the people who I have seen everyday for the past four years for a final time. I sigh, looking at my dorm, which looks as though a history bomb has exploded inside of it, but at least it is not my childhood bedroom.…

The group of friends standing right in front of us jumped and sang every word of the songs being sung. We were only 30 seconds into the first song he sang, there was no one in the crowd in sight just standing there. Days before, I remember counting down for the day to approach. Waiting for that day filled with country music, sunshine, cowboy boots, and hats. It was the stereotypical perfect day, i've been waited for this the entire summer, ever since we heard of it on Wild Country 99.…

I don’t believe that I was ever as excited or nervous as I was that night. My room seemed heated; I don’t know if it was from all the lights and curling irons I had on or if it was the anticipation of the night before me. A sea of clothes that I had decided just wouldn't do concealed the floor and shoes were strewn everywhere. After finally deciding to wear my blue sweater, the one Mom told me brought out my eyes, I drowned myself in Justin Biebers' Boyfriend perfume, and I was ready for my first date.…

I moved forward in my seat to look outside the window of the school bus. The trip to Harlem Valley, NY to visit the McEnroe farm was entertaining. Nevertheless, two hours of card games, lots of singing, and a ton of laughing still had me looking at my watch every twenty minutes. Out of all the trips this June, the McEnroe farm was the one that I was looking forward to the most. Five hours, in total, worth of driving and waiting wouldn't lead us to somewhere I would be bored at.…

As I walked into the Brechemin Auditorium I was immediately mesmerized by the stage. I took my seat and instantly took notice of the crimson curtain and the Grand black piano shining in the spotlight. The auditorium was much smaller than I had expected, but it created an intimacy between the musicians and audience that was necessary for the performances. During Introduction and Variations on ‘Trockne Blumen,’ D.802, I could hear the pages of sheet music turn and the breaths that the flute player would take during her performance. I was completely in awe of how beautiful the flute looked, glistening in its gold color under the spotlight as the flutist would slightly bob around when playing.…

Gobos light up the stage and spots pan over the audience, pulling in every sense of intrigue and curiosity within the audience. A ringtone is heard as the stage lights dim, a man appears in a spotlight leaning, virtually reaching out, but he seems to hold himself back, delaying the phone call for fear of what it might be.
