Personal Narrative: Kathleen Sullivan

Improved Essays
When I decided to create a map focusing on the hospitals in New York City, I already had in mind who I wanted to speak to for the interview component. For years, a thin pillow with the details of my birth stayed wrapped around a baby bottle stuffed with hospital bracelets. This pillow was shuffled between the far back of my closet and various boxes under my bed. Though my own name was on both the pillow and the bracelet, Kathleen Sullivan was the name that always stood out to me. Kathleen Sullivan was the name of the person who delivered me. In addition to the personal connection I had to Dr. Sullivan, I thought she could lend insight to the closing of St. Vincent’s Medical Center- the hospital where I was born.
