Personal Narrative: Kate And Diabetes

It was a terrible Sunday, I was sitting at home when I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. Picking up the phone, I saw that my dad was calling me. He was calling to tell me some terrible news. His words, “Kate is no longer with us.” Six words, six little words but enough to make my heart plummet to my feet. She had very bad diabetes. She always forgot to check her sugar levels and when they got low, she stopped being able to function. Her sugar's got so low that she passed out and was all alone. She was not found until the next day. All I could think about was how my step sister was going to live without her mom,The date was September 11, 2016, eleven days before Kate’s 49th birthday.
