The past year being separated by soccer and only seeing each other two days a week really brought us closer together and it gave us a little taste of what life was going to be like in the next four years after high school. We had a big talk wrote down our plans and made a promise to each other that we would be true to our promise and our plans. As a hopeful and excited teenage couple we didn’t really see the whole picture all we saw was the pretty parts of our situation and the only sacrifice was going to be that we would not be able to see each other as often as we would like to. The first year was really tough, there were lots of tears and emotions but we thought we were really gonna work it out. We were ready to prove to the world that long distance relationships do work out. All it takes is commitment, sacrifice and dedication. Everything was working perfectly and one day after practice on our third year she calls me and says “I don’t think we are gonna make it.” She explained her reasons and I was left in shock, like an idiot I acted based off my emotions. I was so in love and focused on this girl that I made the decision that would give my life a 360 degree

In all, it took us about five trips to get it all out to the soccer field where we were eating. The next week we had summer camp. When we could, we would hang out (mainly because we were two years apart) which was mostly during swim hour, free time, and during meals. When fall started she moved up to the high school part of the student ministry.…

Have you ever felt at home in a city, like you are supposed to be there it was your destiny to grow up there and to go to school there? I felt that way in Sartell, Minnesota, until I moved. My reaction was horrific, I didn't feel like I'd be at home there, but I met a lot of nice people. Moving to Bismarck has affected me for several reasons but I am preserving. Telling my siblings…

Brooklyn’s Trials and Tribulations Brooklyn was a girl I used to hang out with whenever I was in high school. She was the first person to introduce herself to me when I attended my new high school. She was a really good friend and was always nice to me and since I was new to the school, she made me feel like I wasn 't alone and had someone to talk to. We would play volleyball a lot and play her x-box whenever I went over to her house after school. She was kind of tall and slim, so when we played volleyball, she would normally beat me very bad because she was in better shape than I was.…

The social norm that I violated was singing out loud on a public place. Well I did not really get to sing loudly on a bus or train. I did however sing loudly while I was shopping in Wal-Mart. I thought it was the next best thing than singing on a bus or something. Since there are tons of people at Wal-Mart in the first place.…

A day that was memorable to me in my life was the day I came to Job Corps. Before job corps, I was working with a contractor named Dale Biship. It was an under-the-table job, but it did help in some cases. I had about three to four jobs. One was with Dale working on houses/apartments and churches.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

When I was a teenager I worked in a donut shop. It so happened that the place was sold to a family and was not a corporately owned. In the hope of saving money, they decided to cut labor and asked the hostess’ to do all the cleaning, including the washrooms. The age I was at cleaning was not my cup of tea, therefore, I made it clear to the owners I will do everything else, but clean the washrooms, as I don’t even do that at home, and my mom wouldn’t even let me. The owner’s reply was, “you people should be used to that kind of work, what do you mean you can’t do it,” and a whole lot of other inappropriate things that I won’t get into.…

In just one day, you come into contact with more people than you can count. Your parents in the morning, you teachers at school, your friends during lunch, and everyone in between. From a sociological perspective, each one of these interactions determines who you are and who you become as a unique individual. If someone smiles at you, or laughs at your joke, you know you said something funny, or did something right. If you get a dirty look, or someone begins crying after you say something, you probably did something wrong.…

Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. I was raised with two loving parents, Mario and Rebeca, along with a younger brother, Mario and older sister, Ana.…

This is my very last day at Lakefront highschool before I move to Mountain View High and I could not be regretting it more. My dad got a new job in Missouri and we have to move there. The thought just rushed to my brain, I have to leave my very best friend behind that I’ve known since pre-school. Right as I walked into school I gave her the biggest hug I have ever given someone. It made mine and her face turn red as I wrapped my arms around her and squeezed her to the point she couldn’t breath.…

8th grade I had not come out yet because I still wasn’t sure about myself. I had kind of had a crush on this one girl. When we first started to date I should have opened up to her more to show her how I felt and really try to express myself to show her who I really was so it would not have to be a mystery in the future. We could have gave it another shot at the long distance and see if it worked out but n ow we will never know if the second time was going to be better. Lastly when we started dating I could have shown her or proved to her that I am trustworthy and this could have avoided a lot of conflict down the road. I am aware of the points I have made and discussed and I am prepared to put them to use in my next relationship so it can be long and healthy…

My sister and I fought about something stupid, exactly how we always did, but somehow this argument turned into something more, and we ended up not talking for the rest of the week. She hated me, I knew, and growing up I was proud of the sibling rivalry we had, but these days, I was tired of it. The arguing, the yelling, even the eyerolls I gave her sometimes; it was just something I didn’t want anymore. I’m not even sure how the drift between us happened, but there was a continent the size of Pangea between her and I, and there was no way for me to fix it. Five and a half days of not saying a word to each other later, I left to sleep over at my friend’s house for the weekend.…
