Personal Narrative: Junior Year

Improved Essays
Everyone can agree Junior Year was hard, and most people associate it with stress. The exams, the grades, the clubs, the sports; Life becomes chaotic easily. But if I had to describe Junior year in only 2 words, I would say “new experiences.” Like Dimmesdale who let the fear of becoming disreputable come in the way of his love, I used to be controlled by fear; declining to make memories because I was afraid of getting in trouble or getting hurt. In 7th grade we had a class called project adventure in which we got to zip line and do other similar activities. And the fear consumed me so I only watched instead of participating. But this year things changed. I became more confident and comfortable in my own skin because like Thoreau said "our life is frittered away by detail. " …show more content…
This year I learned to live to the fullest and without regret. Although it's a working progress, I started going out of my comfort zone. In physics, I had the opportunity to slack line, and instead of wimping out, I was one of the first girls to try. Moreover, I received my first solo ever. Over my 5 years in Chorus I auditioned for 2 solos in which I went in terrified and pessimistic, but this year I auditioned for three solos in which I went in confident, and I received my first solo ever. Not only did I grow as a person but I also gained many new experiences. I went to Disney for the first time in my life, and I made new memories. In addition, it was my first time away from my family overnight. I was like the women portrayed in Devil in the White City who were excited to experience freedom and enjoy their lives while simultaneously being the 4-year-old girl who got the Barbie doll she wanted for her birthday. This year, however stressful, has been a great year. And Ultimately, I've grown from all my experiences: the good and the

One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

My years in high school were quite thrilling and adventurous. Starting as a freshman, I had no idea where I was going and what was going to be expected of me. Over the years I became involved with extracurricular activities which led to my primary interest I had developed in technology and the sciences. As a freshman I joined the Students with Future Interests in Technology Club, Spanish Club, and Robotics Club. These clubs stayed with me till I graduated high school and I have loved them ever since I got involved in them.…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

The day of August 27, 2012 I was officially titled a freshman. One look down those unknown red and blue walls, will forever change my perspective of high school. There was an instant moment of disbelief in my freshman, I was terrified, and no thought came to mind as to how I was going to survive high school for the next four years. Of course I knew it'll be different from my tiny middle school, but will it be like the cliché movies about the upcoming of age, or resemble the happiest times of life. From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

“Stick to flute” is something I’ve heard from a few people while I was trying new things. Mr. Briem, one of the band teachers, took this the opposite direction and started me on a path to unknowingly end up like him. He encouraged me to explore music; that encouragement drove me in my first three years of high school to develop my musical skills. Briem introduced me to the potential I had for growing musically. He saw something in me that no one else did, and I didn't know at the time, but I’d later draw inspiration from that in a different setting.…

Three years elapsed, and with those years gone, so were my hardships. The start of my fourth year marked the turning point for me and what made my final year in high school a memorable one. Unlike the years prior where my opinion didn’t matter, my senior year was when I was finally recognized and praised for my abilities. I felt like I was an asset to the team rather than someone who was just taking up space. I was given first priority when the time had come to pick numbers.…
