Sara really steps up as a groom and is able to manage riding as well. I’ve known Sara for over 8 years, we used to be at a different barn together and 5 years ago, and her kindness and dedication have never wavered. When I was 9 at my first lesson, Sara taught me how to tack up a horse, and later on, how to clean stalls and clean tack. Through all the years I’ve known her, she has been an outstanding teaching to me and young riders of all walks of life. Aside from being a fantastic person, I also admire Sara’s resilience in the face of her first fears. Her lease horse, Bella, coliced on schooling day of a Win-a-gin show, and instead of going home and crying about it, she didn’t leave Bella’s side. She rode with the horse and her owner to Michigan State, staying with her and checking in frequently. The next morning she returned to the show to groom without missing a beat, still on top of her game. She is impeccable. Sara is also incredibly considerate to other competitors. On an especially rainy and slippery day, she made sure the riders that rode after her knew where the especially slick parts of the course were and to take caution. She really does care for everyone and wants everyone to have a fair shot when competing, even if that means she is knocked out of the ribbons. Sara is an insanely fair, effervescent, and deserving rider. This award would be a great way to recognize her for the outstanding
