Personal Narrative: Journey To Florida

Journey to Florida I woke up with the glowing sun shining in my face and I realized it was time. I had been waiting for this since the first time my sister asked me to go with her, about four months ago. My sister, our friends, and I piled up in the van and we took off. It was the beginning of our journey to Panama City Beach Florida. We were all ready for (hopefully) the best trip of our lives. We set out to experience an adventure even if it meant a long drive to our final destination. Our van cruised down the paved road, for hours we drove with nothing but corn fields and bare trees in the distance. Soon enough we got to a small town in Tennessee. The town was full of boutiques and little shops. I was appealed by “The …show more content…
After gulping down the first glass everyone got refills. Refill after refill no one could stop drinking the tea. “Drink as much as you would like” Clara insisted with a smirk on her face. My sister came running into the shop wondering why we all were taking so long. “Come on, we have to get back on the road before the sun sets”, she yelled. Soon enough she figured out that we drank the peach oolong, which she knew would make us hazy but was not aware the lady would let us buy it. One of my roommates in college was gay. He confided in me about his sexual preference, knowing I’d respect his confidence. Back then, gay people were openly ridiculed and rejected and attacked. I wish I could say this was no longer true, but obviously I can’t. We’ve come a long way, but what happened in Orlando and the reaction to it provide harsh reminders of how people hate those who are different from them in some way.…

I woke with a start at the obnoxious noise coming from my alarm. It was 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday, in the middle of the summer. Today, I was going to my favorite place in the world: the Tulsa State Fair. I dragged myself down the creaking stairs and into the family room, where I turned on the television. I then ate a bowl of cocoa puffs and went back upstairs to prepare myself for the day.…

As I stepped out into this new world, all I could hear was uproarious sounds of people yelling, the dropping of suitcases, and the rigorous excitement of my heartbeat. I had finally arrived at my new home, the metropolis of central Florida and the home to the world famous Mickey Mouse. The City of Orlando was something truly unique and quite adventurous; well at least in the eyes of a six year old whom had recently arrived from the tropical paradise in the Caribbean.…
