Personal Narrative: Joining The Law

Improved Essays
Growing up in a household enriched with passionate history fanatics, I am naturally drawn to the law, especially its role in our government and the rights it confers on every person. From a young age, I noticed my passion started to align with those of my politically aware relatives. Every history class that I have enrolled in made my love for the legal system expand to new and unfathomable levels. The eagerness I had as a first grader, in first learning about the Constitution, has only grown as I approach my junior year. In my sophomore year, I decided to join my school's Model United Nations Club (MUN). As MUN is very selective, I was overwhelmed with feelings of triumph when I found out that I had been accepted into the club. Once it came time …show more content…
After reading that description I was captivated by the thought of working with students from across the Northeast and learning about the judicial system. Once I signed up, I spent the next four months working with three other members of my delegation on our very first legal brief. This was a very challenging time of my life as I was learning so much about the intricate details of the arduous work that goes into writing a legal brief. January finally came by and it was time for my group to showcase our hard work and prosecute a famous international criminal. All went well as it was our delegation's first year of participating in ICC and us four underclassmen girls were able to subdue what seemed to be our very intimidating veteran upperclassmen male counterparts. When the weekend finally came to an end, we were overjoyed when we found out that we had successfully prosecuted our charges and we became the very first group from our delegation to win an award against 2,000 students from 6 different states for the best legal brief. After having such a remarkable MUN experience I have decided to go forth with my passion in law. After doing extensive research I am confident in my choice to apply to the Georgetown summer

The Syrian farmers’ lands have dried up, climate change and over-damming along the Tigris, along with the Euphrates has forced them to migrate towards the urban center in search of government assistance. Arriving, exhausted and subdued nevertheless, seeking sanctuary, finding only a failing government, along with the burning wheel of revolt. I met that farmer and in my elaborate effort to find a theory that befits his struggle, to provide some type of guidance or comfort to offer him, sadly all i had left to give was a penny with a hole in it. As I volunteered amidst the refugees in za'atari camp ( the largest Syrian refugee camp at approximately 80,000 and now considered to be the fourth largest city in Jordan) and Jerash camp (Palestinian refugee camp resulting from the 1948 exile)…

However, I didn't know why this profession was so important until I studied Constitutional Law. It is the Constitution which provides every one of us the freedoms which we enjoy today. Most people take these freedoms for granted, mainly due to the fact that they are not faced with a situation where these rights would protect them. Nevertheless, these rights remain available should they be needed. Examples of these rights include the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and due process, the Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures and the Sixth Amendment right to…

Forty years later and almost everyone involved in that story is dead. My life had been altered by the events and ironically led me down the path of a forensic analyst. My sole job being to preserve blood and other fluids, fingerprints, human tissues, fibers, and weapons-related evidence and examine crime scenes. Simply put, I find out who the bad guys are. The doll - still eyeless, dirt smudged into the petticoat - lies dormant on my mantelpiece.…

Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. In my transition from childhood to adulthood one event stands out. This event was my experience with the American legal system as a witness to a friend that was being unjustly persecuted. I learned through this process that the legal system has multiple steps which all take a painstakingly long amount of time to occur, and in every step the pressure, nerves, and anxiety built.…

I have recently gone through some experiences that have opened my eyes to the many hypocrisies that are ingrained into the criminal justice system. As a child and up until now, I have always thought that the courts were just and law enforcement officers stood for something more, that is not the case to me. I see a lot of corruption and a lot of nonsense, Especially towards minorities.…
