Personal Narrative-Johnathan's Movement

Decent Essays
Johnathan is wearing heavy plate that restricts his movement, though offers him a greater deal of protection. His father made the armor custom for himself, adding extra layers of plate and leather in several areas. These extra layers come at a price, though, as it also makes him rather heavy and slow when all suited up.

Johnathan carries a large two handed axe, which was custom made by John himself. The axe itself weighed about thirty pounds, not exactly super light. It had a long metal handle that was wrapped in a dark blue cloth. The axe head was bladed on both sides and John's name would be imprinted on the side of the head.

At John's waist would be a long tan leather sheath and inside of it was a rather large dagger. It had a metal hilt

Heavy, devastating, and powerful enough to end a life in one swing, this axe was a formidable weapon. Before the hafting technique was developed, the axe was a heavy, slow weapon. With most strikes knocking the head of the axe off, a better technique was formed. Hafting was a far stronger technique that re-invented the axe itself. The handle of the axe was far stronger and the metal was hardened to improve strength of the overall weapon.…

This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because…

The widely accepted definition of a tragic hero, a literary character who makes a judgement error that inevitably results in their destruction, was conceived by Aristotle. Aristotle's tragic hero must experience a flaw in judgement (hamartia), a reversal of fortune (peripeteia), and a realization that they caused their lot (anagnorisis); they ultimately receive a fate much harsher than deserved due to their hubris. John Proctor, the protagonist of Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible is this American tragedy’s tragic hero. Because John commits adultery in a rigid theocracy he suffers a dramatic fall in social status resulting in his death; thus, John Proctor is a by Aristotle's definition a tragic hero. Prior to the beginning of the play, it…

On Thursday February the twenty fifth during the tear down of our second stage show Our Vital Struggle, I witnessed Jim Jenkins verbally accost a student. He yelled “Turn that fucking music down” at our sound board operator Marissa Walker. This drove her into the closet where I found her hiding obviously terrified. When I began to talk to Mr. Jenkins he then began to yell at me¸ at which point I asked him into the hall way and told him that it was not acceptable to yell at or bully students and that he needed to calm down or leave. At that point the stage manager came out and ejected Mr. Jenkins because he had scared Marissa walker to tears.…

The drive of Bruce Olson and what he had to go through in his life relates to my life in the way that I want to become a missionary someday. Both my life and his are very different right now, but reading about his life and the things he endured both scares me and brings excitement. The thought of leaving my family and everything I know to go live in a foreign place doesn't exactly sound like something I would volunteer for, but doing the will of God and meeting new people interests me like nothing else. Like Bruce, I am a people-person, I like to be with someone all the time. It scare me to think about how Bruce was so lonely in South America, while he wasn't able to speak very much and communicate with others.…

I’ve usually learned in hard way because frankly, I love to challenge myself to expand my personal capacity. Although I had already talked to one of my classmates about having interview with her as a Caucasian woman, I decided to do it with my cousin’s friend, Jacob, who I met in my place for the first time during Thanksgiving holidays. Interviewing Jacob about his interactions with other cultures has made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the meaning of the privilege and holding it. Jacob was a 24-year-old Caucasian, who lived in Missouri his entire life. Though he was visiting California for the second time in his life, he was in a Persian house for the first time.…

So it started out as a normal school day and as we were coming back from lunch we all went to the restroom and only six of us got taken. As we were using the restroom Andrew Myers, Jahzara Mckinney, Kadance Gravely, Maddox Lyons, Hayden Elliott, Kaylie Hawks and myself were pulled into the sewers and through a pipe that somehow took us to a island. We were stranded there by ourselves the island was like a forest in a way it has tall redwood trees high grass like the jungle and a beautiful glossering pond. So as we were there we were all panicking then I just got really quiet. We went to bed and the next morning Hayden and Jahzara were fighting over food we had from killing Andrew we had a lot of food left over from yesterday but both Jahzara and Hayden wanted that same piece.…

I’ve been listening to a lot of Jon & Deek in the morning, and in the mid-afternoon, and early evening. Those two (or one?) have me flipping through channels, seeing if I can remember what station NPR or The Keg is on. All I could remember about a station was “the Eagle is classic rock,” and I spent many minutes at red lights flipping through the country music stations trying to be reunited with my old customary station, only to find myself listening to Will Ferrell screech “SAANNTTAA!” on 94.9’s Christmas ad. Nothing was more brutal, and yet familiar than this. There’s no aux cord in my 2002 Honda, and it spits out cd’s when I put them in, and I can’t make myself realize that I’m not motivated enough to actually listen to NPR on a morning drive, so I resist looking up the tune-in number.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…
