Personal Narrative: Job Shadowing A Speech Language Pathologist

It happened six years ago as I sat in an office with butterflies in my stomach. It was my first day job shadowing a Speech Language Pathologist and I was excited to have this amazing opportunity as a high school student. As the SLP ran a session a smile came over my face. Over the next few months I would job shadow twice a week. I learned more than I could have imagined I could in such a short time. By the end of my time job shadowing I knew this was the career I wanted to pursue. I have known for several years that I want my graduate work to be in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders. My desire to pursue a graduate degree in this field has been enriched by a minor in Developmental Disabilities in Psychology and through volunteer
