The site that I visited was Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, NC. I went to a sermon, with some friends, that took place on a Sunday night. When we arrived at the church, we stayed together and observed the site. The members of this church all seemed to be within their twenties and thirties; there were a few younger children and a few older women and men, but not many. Most of these people seemed to be from Christian ethnic backgrounds or just unaffiliated with any ethnicity.…
I have been to different churches in different areas. I never like any of the church and I never accepted Jesus. Even though, I didn't accept Jesus, I still pray to God. However, everything chances during my last year of Middle school. My family and I started to attended Hmong First Baptist Church.…
On August 2nd, 1941 First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt wrote this quote in her daily newspaper column, “My Day.” In the thick of World War II Roosevelt’s quote inspired many as they fought through their hardships. People learn from doing. We maintain the values that our role models instill in us, but as we gain experience, we fashion our own beliefs. A mirror of this in my life is my work with the organization Soles for Jesus.…
I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior when I was eleven years old and believe strongly in attending a university that reflects my belief system. I attend church faithfully for both Sunday morning and night services as well as Wednesday night bible study. My Sunday School lessons further increase my knowledge of the Bible and the Christian walk. I have volunteered for Vacation Bible School for the past two years and have even gone door to door passing out fliers inviting children to attend. Recently, I realized that I wanted to become more involved with my community.…
I find myself fascinated listening to this man. I sit here amongst a crowd of hundreds of men, women, and children. We are all amazed at the knowledge that he speaks. The man changes his tone and compares himself the bread that fell from heaven and the water that came from the rock. The rabbi next to me is angrily talking to me as if I did something wrong.…
“One of the secrets of life is making stepping stones out of stumbling blocks.” –Jack Penn As my thoughts raced and mocked every ounce of confidence that I could have possibly possessed, I impatiently prepared for what was about to come. It was finally my time to be in the limelight—my time to share my God-given talents. I came from a shy and insecure mindset, but being chosen for the soloist position in a new style of worship would change everything for me.…
Jesus Camp is a documentary film released in 2006 where directors Hedi Ewing and Rachel Grady document the events of an Evangelical children 's camp located near Devils Lake, North Dakota. The documentary focuses on the camp its self and the Evangelical Movement, but also on its leader, Becky Fischer, and three of the children in the documentary, Levi, Rachel, and Tory. This film is meant to provide a supposed un-biased look into the camp, and also the Evangelical faith its self. Clearly however, it is meant to show the indoctrination occurring in the camp and their disapproval of the Evangelical movement. This all during a very controversial time in our country in which Evangelicals have helped President Bush to be elected, who now is under…
I have been going to West Washington United Methodist Church since I was about five years old. Because of this, I don't remember a time when I didn't know about God and Jesus. Words can't do justice to how much this church has had on my life. The congregation at this church has become a second family to me. I have been fostered in the basics of my faith and poured into by the people who go there.…
On October 30th, 2016 I attended Redeemer Lutheran church. I arrived there ten minutes early and picked a pew towards the back and started to take notes. The mass started around eight o’clock am and lasted approximately an hour. The service itself was similar to a Roman Catholic mass that I am use to. I was surprised that they were so similar because my thought process was since they are completely different religions than they must have completely different mass styles.…
My story begins when I was only six years old. That was the year that I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and He became a part of my life. At the time I did not know exactly what it meant to be a Christian, but I did everything a Christian would do since I thankfully grew up in a Christian home. It was not until I was a teenager until I fully understood what being a Christian meant. Experiences such as missions trips, retreats, and summer camps are what have shaped my relationship with Jesus.…
The four years I’ve spent at Central Catholic I've had many of my memories that happened to me. My friendships have definitely strengthened over the years with people I know including my coaches and teachers. All the activities that I was involved with in central catholic such as sports, dances, activities. I don’t have a whole lot of least favorite memories in my last four years at central catholic.…
I would hear the members of the church thanking a man that I have never seen before. I would listen to my pops preach about a spirit that I had never felt before. A person can know about Him but not actually know him until they have a personal relationship with Him. As a few years passed, I eventually got to know God for myself. I eventually got baptized and made a promise to always love Him and obey the words of the Bible.…
There are many faces of heroes, but the story of Jesus Christ is known as “the greatest story ever told”. The whole life of Jesus was his adventure; his life was for the life of others. Through his existence as a man the hero 's journey of Jesus Christ depicts the most self-sacrificing adventure know to literature by his humbleness, love, and resurrection. In the first stage of the hero 's journey is the departure stage showing the humbleness of Jesus.…
I was aware of the love He had for me and I was aware that I was to do the same. That night, I made a choice to follow a person whose name is Jesus, and this is the story of my life since then. My main moments of spiritual growth in God came from my elementary years.…
I knew of God, at least what my parents told me at a young age. I will never forget the feeling I had when I was baptized. I was 6 years old. I remember having a tingle all around me, and I knew something was real. This feeling was not made up.…
