“JA BizTown”
I was amazed as our bus, bus 18, was pulling into, “JA BizTown”. Kellan was right next to me on the bus and was talking about fidget spinners but, when I turned my head, JA looked like a regular 3 story high school. A lady, who I forgot her name, told us to get out of the seats one by one. Once we got through the 2 glass doors, there was a receptionist on the right at the front desk. Next to the receptionist there was a room made of glass and there were computers and office chairs. When we got on the half oval green turf, we counted down from 3 to get inside the 2 big wooden doors, once the doors opened we hung up our coats and lunch boxes.
When we sat down I saw my dad behind me taking pictures of me. Then, the same woman talked about JA and the, CEO’s went to the businesses, then the adults, then the kids. In our group we had Calvin, Ayush, the CEO, the CFO (the CEO and CFO didn’t want their names in my paper), Michael, Cody, and me. Our company was, “Cisco Wireless,” and we sold a game called, “Cisco Island”. We announced our names and then, told the others what job we did. Then, I looked at this big screen and it had a lot of of hard drives, computer boxes, and computer screens, the screen showed the pictures in 2D and 3D.
There was a curved counter in front of the screen and to the right of it was a camera

Once we came back, and then the yellow team and red team left and we only got 1-3 customers that round. After that, we went to get lunch. The lunch was a chicken sandwich, milk/water, carrots, broccoli, a cookie, and some ranch. We ate for 30 minutes, then we went back to work. On the second round the red team then the yellow team go and we got 5 more customers than the last time. When I left to buy things, I voted, got earbuds, and got a picture. Overall, we made $77 and was in debt by $103. All the CEO’s then gave a speech on how well their company did and then, we got our jackets and went

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

On the above date and time I responded to 5142 Bay Boulevard, reference an unresponsive subject. Dispatch advised me while en-route that there was a male caller who advised that his wife was unresponsive inside of the residence. I was the first to arrive on scene at the residence. Due to that fact, I removed my AED from the trunk of my patrol vehicle and proceeded to the front door of the residence.…

Back in the gang I was fourteen years old when I saw the perfect image and decided to back out. I was about to break into the Jamesons house. Back in the rich neighborhood, back in the gang, back before everything changed. We rode up to Fall Creek, the neighborhood. After driving through the big, confusing, dark neighborhood at night we found a house with a black plaque that said, ‘Welcome to the Jameson’s’ Jacob, Tyler, Ra’shawn, Andrew, and I walked to the back of the gray house.…

Much like Jerral, I grew up with parents who too were entrepreneurs of a small town business. Their leadership and management skills rubbed off on me and taught me great work ethic and leadership skills. In high school, I perused different avenues that lead to me becoming more involved in my school and community. I became head of the prom comity along with student body president, hoping to make a difference. I couldn't think of anything better than having the roll as a leader in my school, until I began to wear out.…

Growing up in Brooklyn, in the early 90’s was one of the best experiences in my life. I remember the ice cream trucks, corner stores, fire hydrates being opened for the kids especially when there was a block party but most of all, the unity of families and neighbors. Many people will say “Brooklyn, only the strong survive” and I have lived by that phrase my entire life. It showed me the beauty of living in one of the boroughs that makes up New York City and has taught me to be a strong person. It’s not made for the weak.…

Bimba I hopelessly sit on the chalky sidewalk alone, isolated from the roar of street cars and buses intrusively honking their obnoxious horns. My thoughts surround me as I wait for someone to make a simple gesture and toss a small bill in my decrepit Tim Hortons’ coffee cup. The petite awning of the Korean restaurant I sit my back against, along with my cup and two nickels, is all I have. Ever since I lost my job, I cannot bear to see the face of a human, especially my own. Listening to the sound of jubilant people laugh eats at my wandering soul.…

After thirty-six hours of turbulent flights I arrived in Bacolod, feeling jetlagged and underqualified. It’s true the virtual calculator I wrote to make shorter work of my Algebra homework had become a minor hit online, garnering a few hundred downloads; and it’s true that the computer I wrote that calculator on I had “Frankensteined” together with components from the recycling center. But I had never worked in IT, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that the position my uncle had offered me, intern with the IT department of the all-ages school where my aforementioned uncle worked as vice-principal, was one that could be better filled by someone else. Of all the teenage computer geeks with no summer plans, why me?…

Ça Va?: A Personal Narrative For most of my life I’ve been like a magnet, always being pulled different ways and never really becoming myself, by myself. I’ve been a bottle without a message, floating between people and shores. I would keep friends for the school year, then lose them in the summer because of my total apathy towards most of their lives, and thus my lack of importance in theirs. This continued for the entirety of middle school and my first two years of high school.…
