I fidgeted uncomfortably on the hard, green plastic seats around the stage and semi-circle shaped pool, resting my arms on the sides of the seats. I grimaced at the sight of bird poop on the armrests and quickly removed my elbows off them, placing them on my lap after checking for scat on my sleeves. It was a long wait before the Blue Horizons show started at Seaworld, San Diego , and all I could do was stare at the oddly shaped plastic waves on the stage, and the rainbow balloon-like “bubbles” on them, and listen to my brother whine about how he was hungry, and beg my dad for more beef jerky. My dad adamantly refused to give my brother any, saying that the show would start soon. I had to watch a tug-of-war with the beef jerky package while…

It was a chilly February afternoon, as I got off the bus and heard the news I never wanted to hear. I knew this day would come but I didn't want it to be so soon. " Hannah sugar is stumbing, her leg is getting worse. " All I could do is cry.…

“Yay you’re here!” my cousin yelled. One summer afternoon my family and I were heading to our car to head to San Francisco we had to be in the car for seven hours we stopped at a gas satiation to get gas, there was a Subway (the food Subway) so we ate that and when we were done we headed to my aunt’s apartment. I walk into the sweet fragrance of cinnamon. My mom greets me at the end of the hall. I kick my shoes off just to relax. I bolt up the stairs and smack the wall in my room to turn the fan on. I put my backpack down and go right back down the stairs.…

Assignment 2 In my opinion, Tom Feelings’ pictorial of The Middle Passage is not a useful tool because of its blurry drawings, the order of pictures and large room for interpretation. The pictorial seems to value quantity over quality, as most of the drawings are very blurry. Although the gray scale makes the pictorial look older, the shading in the drawings clumps everything together and it is difficult to see the details.…
She is living paycheck to paycheck because of many different reasons. One reason is that she is recently separated from her husband because he has become addicted to pain pills and used up all their money on his addiction. Another is that she does not have a college degree and therefore works at a nursing home making only $9.49 an hour. Since her estranged husband has been addicted to pain pills, he doesn’t have a job, so he is not really contribute towards their children in any way. He does not help with their day care, their food, and their clothes, none of it.…
Over the duration of my senior summer I was allowed to experience many wonders as I transitioned out of one segment of my life to a new one; however, possibly to greatest experience out of the entire time period of my summer was my family's trip to six flags. We began planning for the trip months in advance saving money, gathering supplies, and making reservations. We toiled through this segment of planing making sure that all of the details of the trip would be perfect. Once all of our details were lined up ducks in a row and bags packed as if we were to stay for a month, we began travel on the an interstate that was as busy as an ant nest just before winter, as in when they begin to store food, but I digress we weaved through the traffic,…
It could be happening to anyone around you. Literally anyone. It could be your mother, your brother, a friend, even the man bagging your groceries. The scariest part about high-functioning anxiety and depression is that it is not something you can visibly see. Sometimes, even the people I see everyday don’t know I’m struggling because I’m able to cover it up and keep it buried.…
Gingerbread Man on the loose. It was Christmas eve and Grandma was making gingerbread man and houses for him to live in. All of us made gingerbread man and houses for all of the gingerbread people. When we got done cutting out the gingerbread people grandma stuck them in the oven to bake, we started on their houses out of giant gram crackers. I use so many sweets I couldn’t even count and mine was the best out of all my family of course.…
Right outside of the front door was a platform, I spent most of my time on it. I would sit there and acknowledge everything that would happen. My grandmother did not live on a very busy street, but it was always fascinating to me to watch different things going on, from my brother playing basketball with his friends to waiting for the ice cream man to pass. The ice cream man probably passed about five times a day. By the end of my summers, he already knew us by name.…
I do not remember exactly the particular day but all I remember was that it was very humid and the sky was cloudy. It was just a few days before I joined first grade and I had just arrived home from my neighbors. I was utilizing my last few days of freedom and hence was tired and hungry. I had rushed home looking forward to my grandmother’s food and playing time.…
