I knew saving marine animals was a great idea, but suddenly, the list of “hows” drowned me with endless possibilities.

Word about the club quickly got around and it was evident that other students shared my love for the ocean and wanted to join the newly formed organization. The time for the first meeting came, and excitement flourished within me at the sight of 40 students waiting to be called to order.

Our first meeting began on a positive note; students were participating and contributing their ideas. However, a realization struck me. Although, I am no longer a member, it is gratifying to me to watch what started as a strong passion become a tangible

Multicultural Club A lot of us have a discourse community that we feel like we belong in. Before reading John Swales essay, I thought a discourse community is a group of people that have shared goals and purposes. But after reading John Swales essay he have made me realize that there is more to a discourse community than only having common goals and purposes but also has its own mechanism that is used mostly for communication and to provide valuable information or a feedback, using a genre(s) especially for a particular jargon, and "A discourse community has a threshold level of members with a suitable degree of relevant content and discourse expertise" (471-473). When Mountain House High School was inaugurated, it lacked one of the most crucial elements of the high school experience: clubs. Eager to share my passion for business, I founded DECA to give members exposure to real world working environments, state conferences, and opportunities to present their knowledge. Success was easy to obtain as post-conference enthusiasm spread first amongst members and then the rest of the school. Because of the first year’s success, the next brought many new members who were all eager to attend the DECA state conference.…

The week of August 24th was Club Rush week. The entire week I and anyone else interested in the prospective clubs gathered around all the booths and looked into our options. Surprisingly, most clubs seemed less an investment in hobbies and fun, and more invested in humanitarian organizations. Red Cross, UNICEF, Tree Huggers Club, and one specifically focused on helping our local youth. This seemed to be a nice reflection of all the kindness the students at Chino Hills had to offer.…

Sustainable seafood is seafood that is caught in a sustainable method, meaning it is done in a way without causing long term damages to the ocean. Our groups main mission was to provide a cost-free outlet that will help educate and encourage sustainable seafood practices in restaurants and markets across Canada. We provided resources people can use to connect with other sustainable producers and consumers. We were hoping it will help people make ocean friendly decisions to provide a sustainable future of our sea animals and to withstand our marine ecosystem. The organization we chose to work with and contact was The Vancouver Aquarium, which had an organization called The Ocean Wise Program.…
