What is the hardest decision you have made in the past two years? Have you ever felt terrible for doing something good for yourself? When I was 16 years old I changed summer traveling softball teams to make myself better so that I could play softball in college. I had played on the team that I was leaving for 9 years and my dad had started the team and we named it the Beatrice Drillers. I loved playing with that team because they were all my friends and I had played with them for so long. The summer of 2016 we got a new coach and he was more of a laid back coach, which meant practices were not down to business like they should have been. Fast forward a few games and we were not playing very well and it seemed like only a few girls cared about playing and being competitive. I could tell that it was going to be like that all season, and at the time I wanted to play softball in college, so I really …show more content…
Obviously if the parents find out, then girls are going to find out also. Going into the weekend before the state tournament we were playing in a tournament in Beatrice and as soon as I arrived I could feel that something was wrong. I walked up to the team and no one really said anything kind of like the awkward silence when you make a really loud noise in the classroom and everyone looks at you. Eventually the atmosphere turned into sassy judgements flying around the dugout, making me feel like I was not wanted there. So during the whole hour warm up and game only two out twelve girls had talked to me and the two girls that had talked to me were going to the Nebraska Elite team with me but the other girls on my team did not know that. At that point I did not even want to be there or go to state because I felt very judged and outcasted for something that I was doing to make myself

Playing sports has always been my passion, I love everything about it. But one thing has always stood in my way; my size. I’ve never been the tallest person in a crowd and most of the time I am one of the shortest people in the room. I never imagined that this could hold me back from something that I love so much and could possibly make my dreams of playing collegiate softball unreachable. I first began playing softball at only five years old.…

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

The game of baseball has always been in my life since I was a child. My love for the game began when I was five years of age signing up for tee ball at the local little league. As a child, I would imagine myself as a professional ballplayer. I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game.…

I played sophomore baseball for Senior over the summer. It was the best season I've ever had as a Dubuque Senior High School baseball player. I was the pitcher on the team, also known as the "Ace". Before the last couple of games we had an anonymous team vote on which award people should get. At the end of the season we had a potluck with the varsity team and the sophomore team.…

A topic that I find engaging and feel like I lose track of time when I talk about is softball it's something I love and can talk forever about. Softball is basically my life almost every day i'm practicing some how if it's at actual practice with my travel team or running plays through my head every night and thinking about how i can improve myself. When anyone comes and talks to me about games or anything to do with softball I immediately lose my train of thought and become engaged in the conversation and can go on for hours and feel like I've only talked for a few minutes. Softball is something I turn to when I'm mad, sad, or happy no matter what kind of day I've had going to practice or a game just makes it feel like there's nothing else in the world. As soon as I step onto the field the rest of the world just disappears and doesn't exist and the only thing that matters is what's inside the fields fence.…

Like all little kids, I just wanted to get to feel the thrill of getting a hit and running around all of the bases to make it home. At six years old not only was I new to the sport of softball, but also to the girls that were signed up for the team. Prior to living in Brasher Falls and playing softball in North Lawrence, my family lived in Bombay. I have always been very talkative, sociable, and bold, so making friends with the other girls was not an issue for me. Some of the girls that I became friends with through coach pitch and first-sixth grade softball ended up being my teammates while playing basketball and softball all throughout high school.…

All throughout one’s life, you must encounter obstacles, face adversity head on, and keep your head high all the while. Thankfully, as a child, I wasn’t always alone in completing tasks or accomplishing things. My friends, family, and people around me in life were quite often to help me, but there were times that I had to accomplish things on my own. As I grew up, I began to hate asking people for help, and I wanted to try things for myself. I felt like it was cheating to ask for help, because in life after high school, aren’t you usually having to do things by yourself?…
