First of all, I want to thank you for the phone call and leaving a voicemail. Taking the time out to help a Veteran was something I always wondered about this place. I always ask the question, is this a place for individuals to come every day for work as a lessee/lessor relationship, or does this place really have some sort of substance behind it for Veterans? This is not the case, because somewhere I took the wrong road or roads (choices!).
Moreover, we all have problems from time to time, and mine started with JB when the first incident happen in early part of 2015. I just waking by J.B. in the dining room –“What are you looking at! He drew first blood and set the tone! It keep on happening again and again, and we both were at each other’s throats then. Yes, some was true, of what happen the last time, but J.B. did not tell you

I am confident that I can approach matters in a positive way, so that my reputation is looked upon by worthiness, recognition, appreciation, and respect. Now, I have put all issues into its proper place as I evaluated them, make sense out of this subjective situation or Framing. “Cherry, Marcia, listen to us…just because we got a little drunk last time... ” Bob began as Randy was basically telling Marcia the same story. I could smell the beer on his breath. I remembered what he did in the drive-in, what Ponyboy told me about what happened to Johnny, and just about everytime he had gotten drunk. The tension infuriated and grew inside. I was not going to hear another one of his excuses.…

She was one of the girliest girls I knew since grade school, with her stylish culottes and pink garments of all different shades for all different occasions. She was the epitome of a mixture between pure innocence and quirk that boldly took her rightful place in the middle of my heart. Mary Anne wasn’t just all of that; she was also my affectionate girlfriend, my warm-hearted best friend who I could talk about anything with, from the most trivial things to the very meaning of our whole existence. At the time, all I could feel was the absolute joy that I got from spending my time with her. We had our entire happiness in the future planned out, a dream wedding and all, but maybe that was the reason why I wouldn’t have ever imagined that I would be feeling so lost and empty just a few years later, alone and missing a part of myself.…

It was a rainy morning in Seattle, and I wore my Army dress uniform. Stepping off the bus, I ran 100 yards to the entrance of the Airport. After I purchased my ticket and checked my bags, I headed to the bar. It was the time of the winter equinox, and I was headed home with my discharge in my duffle bag. I suppose I should have worn my civilian clothes, but I had been stateside six months, and the comradeship I experienced in Vietnam had yet to loosen its grip on me.…

A veteran to me is a patriotic, unselfish, brave, and courageous person, who would sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect our nation. As Jeff Miller once said, “The willingness of America’s Veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Veterans from every country have served throughout many wars. They have put their blood, sweat, and effort into doing the right and beneficial thing for their nation. Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation.…

I am currently a senior at the University of Maryland studying engineering and physics and I feel that before I move onto graduate school or move into the work force I would like to have the experience that is AmeriCorps. I want to have the experience for a couple of reasons, some more selfish than others. For one I do feel that I have been very blessed in my life. I was able to get a good education and never have to worry about too much in life, and for that reason I feel that it is my duty to give back to my community and I believe that AmeriCorps is a great way to do that. Which leads into my second reason, and my urgency of wanting to do AmeriCorps as soon as I graduate.…

What a veteran means to me. The dictionary definition of a veteran is, a person who has has long experience in a particular field of the military, or a person who has served in the military. Federally, a veteran is someone who has served in ANY war, in ANY branch of military for ANY length of time. If you served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps or Navy you are considered a veteran. I believe that someone who can fight for strangers , people they don't even know, along with their own family even if they only served for a week, a year, twelve years, deserves more respect than anyone.…
