The message that is sent out in the story that, even when there are hundreds of people or animals to help, one person can make a difference, even if they only can only reach a few people, it's better than looking at it as a lost cause and not helping anyone. In life we face these situations daily, such as when you see some student getting picked on, should you try to help them out? Or just assume that you can't change anything because there are too many people picking on him? Obviously it is best to temporarily help him out, and the find a way to create a permanent change so he is no longer picked on. Somethings I can do to help the poor and vulnerable in society, is to be a good christian and practise christian morels. I can help those in need, whether it is a homeless person who is in need of an meal, a homeless dog that I could take to the shelter, or a group of younger kids who are lost and need directions. Something very simple I could do, is to team up with father ron, and host a huge food drive from all of our neighboring towns, and donate the food to …show more content…
I walked over to the house on my break, and asked if they would like me to clean them out for free. She was very excited and explained to me how she was going to have to pay a company around $400 to clean them. I told her the I would be there the following day with a ladder to clean them. I showed up, worked for a few hours and eventually all of the gutters were cleaned, she offered to pay me $100, but I refused saying I was doing it to help her, not to make money. She refused to let me leave with nothing in return, so she cooked me lunch and thanked me and I left. Obviously I can't clean everyone's gutters, or mow everyone's lawn, but at least I helped out one person, and hopefully they helped someone out after seeing what I did for

Our Lady of the Lake College is a Catholic institution that was created in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, who firmly believed that all of creation spoke volumes of God’s love for us. St. Francis was raised in a fairly wealthy family, and it was not until he was captured at battle for two years, that he decided to embark on the glorious journey of knowing Jesus Christ. He began preaching to word of God, and embraced others that were not of his kind. Students who attend Our Lady of the Lake College should be of the same example to others throughout their academic careers. As Franciscans, We live by five core values that are service, reverence and love for all of life, joyfulness of spirit, humility, and justice.…

I tend to think of this point as the most important point. Standing and serving those in need doesn't have to just be the poor, it could be a friend who was being bullied, or someone who simply needed help with homework. As Catholics, we stand by people who need assistance rather than running away and ignoring them. This summer, I worked at the Center for Food Action, which is a food bank in north Jersey. Helping out and delivering the canned good and donations to the needy was such an amazing experience.…

My parents relocated my siblings and I from Quetzaltenango, Guatemala to San Diego, California in order to allow us to lead a prosperous future. Unlike children in Guatemala, we were presented with an excellent education in San Diego and indulged in learning. For as long as I can recall, discovering new facts and learning new things about the world fascinated me; consequently, I quickly began wanting to help others in their pursuit of learning. I was always the first to offer help to my struggling peers and would stay behind during recess to assist them. My acts were fueled by the desire to see students succeed and I would do anything to help them prosper.…
