My name is Josh, my name is Nick, my name is Max, my name is Ben...my name is… well it’s Butter. May I ask why said max? My sister couldn't call me brother. Everyone said wow that’s a funny but cool name. It was a new start I guess it was easier because basically everyone in the class played on the same basketball

During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

I didn’t not know what I was expecting. On the first day of high school, I stepped into a crowd of students, waiting to enter the building that would become my second home for the next four years. I didn’ not know where I would stand among these highly accomplished individuals, or if I would even amount to the standards set before me. Self-doubt began to fester inside of me as soon as I stepped through the front doors. I expected less and less of myself as time went on.…

My last first day in middle school wasn't something anyone would want to experience. Everyone hopes and wishes that they get classes with their bestfriends. As for me I did hope and wish I would be able to have my bestfriend by my side in one of my classes, but I was told that I was enrolled in a program called iLead. The program was based off kids who didn't do so well their seventh grade year attitude and academically wise. I was in there because of how poor my attendance was throughout my first year of middle school and how that effected my grades.…

When I was still in grade school, I aspired to be a life flight nurse on the helicopter. To feel that I was saving a life, helping a life, making a difference, what could be more satisfying? When my honor classes began to dwindle to regular, ordinary curriculum, I began to lose confidence in my ability to absorb and complete the intense requirements needed for such a career. When I was in the 5th grade, I thought middle school was going to be an extremely terrifying experience and that I would constantly get lost in the building. That statement is true, but with different circumstances. On the first day of 6th grade, I walked to the opposite side of the school to the 8th grade area, and I couldn’t remember where my classes were for the first week of school. Middle school was still nerve-wracking though, because it is that awkward in-between time in your life when you're not a child anymore, but also not a teenager, let alone adult. What didn’t help with my fear and anxiety over starting a new school was that my best friend in elementary school had moved away, and that made me especially nervous.…
