Decent Essays
It was my 5th grade year and it was my first ever track meet for this year. Our coach had told us that they would be calling what running event would be coming up. I was put in the 4x200 and also the 4x100 but we had to dropped out of the 4x200 because there were no other team competing in the race. They had just said last call for the 4x200 and that meant that the 4x100 was coming up soon. Our relay had to practice hand offs so they would be perfect for the race. The had the 2nd call for the 4x100 and we all went on the track and to the front where everybody was lining up. Once they were done setting us up they had use all go over to our starting spots. I had not heard what the man who was talking to us said because there were a lot of people

Ever since I was a kid, I always found a rhythm on things. Whenever I heard the heartbeat from a toy heart that my teacher had in her classroom, in my head I always added an extra beat to it, always turned it into something musical. I always thought it was because I used to watch the Nickelodeon kids show called “The Fresh Beat Band” every single day when I got home from school, so I let slide. I knew that wasn’t the real reason because it didn’t feel like it was, but I never looked deep into my abilities, never did anything with it no matter how big it was and no matter how it would change my life. At that time I thought I was a waste of talent because whenever I realized I was good at something I never really did anything about it, until one day.…

Why I Sing Chaeley Winkler I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t singing. Of course, I know there was time before I could speak or burble as infants do, so there must have existed a certain silence before sound, however the mere thought of being so silent—unable to reach out with voice or touch—disturbs me to no end. But these thoughts of a time before sound hadn’t quite crossed my mind until I began to question the finer, tinier oddities in my life. These questions emerged at around the age of seven, before they had manifested as inner thoughts.…
