Personal Narrative: Involvement In Church

Great Essays
I distinctly remember one church conflict that took a strange turn. I must add, at the time of this conflict - as a new, emergent, eager, and energetic ministry leader, this particular encounter had me rethinking my active involvement in church all together. I became scarred from this experience. The conflict took place about four to five years ago, where a power struggle emerged in the midst of a committee meeting. Mr. Leo Richardson, a disgruntled leader of the church, upset by a vote that ended his term as leader of Francis Burns United Methodist Church (FBUMC) 501C organization, the Burns Community Development Foundation (BCDF) crossed an indiscernible line. Emotions adversely affected his objective thinking. He exercised poor judgment …show more content…
He also wanted to know what he could do to foster honest communication and vindicate himself without causing Mr. Richardson to lose his integrity.
After much thought, he agreed to dismiss his motion to remove Mr. Richardson from the board. He knew his motion was an act of anger. Where his emotions took over his logic. As an agreement to drop this motion, he however, wanted Mr. Richardson to publicly apologize to the members of the board. He also wanted Mr. Richardson to stop slandering his name to the congregation. Additionally, he would like for it to be made clear that he was now the new chairman, and Mr. Richardson would have to accept it and respect the wishes of the board.
Unfortunately, Mr. Richardson continued to actively and publicly denigrate the authority and leadership of Mr. Friday. He refused to acknowledge his immoral behavior. And just had a different opinion about how things should be done. Sadly, he remained convicted to this flawed and controlling mindset. He would blow up and accuse Mr. Friday of further impugned intentions at future meetings until he found another ministry to control and torment. I believe until this day, Mr. Friday and Mr. Richardson are still at odds with each

Ms. Smith supported her recommendation of Thomas Pearson for an international position with many examples of the contributions he made at POWCO, Inc. although her counterpart, Nigel Graham, was skeptical of her decision. When Smith and Graham conversed about the recommendation they had each made, Smith seemed to get defensive by implying that Graham must not agree with her because of Pearson’s race. Her unprofessional decision to make this assumption made Graham question how personal this decision had become for her. Smith seemed overwhelmed with the decision that she was faced with and seemed as if…

time of the incident, therefore the administrative subpoena to Verizon landline would not have turned up Gabe’s home records; an additional subpoena would have been required to obtain this information. The conclusion of the Massachusetts State Police report states “A review of phone records does not support WILLOUGHBY’S claim that a phone call occurred between GABE and MARY GRASING on October 18, 2011 at approximately 4:00 P.M.” Without seeing the additional records, if any, Mason was in possession of, it is unclear how this conclusion could be drawn. What analysis of Mary Grasing’s home records does show is that Marshard’s landline and Gabe’s landline were in contact with the Mary Grasing between October 17, 2011 and October 19, 2011, this is consistent with Willoughby and BenDavid’s version of the facts. These records should have…

Just a few lots to the west of the two Jennings’ farm was the Pelham branch of the Quaker’s the oldest such branch in Canada. The Friends, as they call their members settled in the Niagara region in 1786 many from New Jersey in Sussex County, the same county in which Hannah was born. As Quaker’s they disavowed anything to do with violence and hence took no active part in the Revolutionary War. This stance of neutrality had members suffer double taxation and the loss of some civil rights – and not just during the war, for many sanctions continued after the war as well. Many Friends could see the advantage of moving north and, not only did so many do so, the Quakers helped many British fugitives leave New Jersey or Pennsylvania for Niagara.…

This case examined whether First Amendment “Freedom of Speech” rights applied to government employees when directly correlated to the employee’s official duties. Richard Ceballos, as a calendar deputy in the district attorney’s office, handled some supervisory responsibilities over other lawyers. In doing so, he sometimes was approached by defense attorneys and asked to review and investigate aspects of pending cases. In one such instance, Ceballos was asked to look into a case where the defense attorney had challenged a warrant due to what the attorney felt were inaccuracies in the affidavit used to acquire the warrant. Once Ceballos investigated, he agreed that the warrant was ill obtained.…
