Upon graduating high school, I decided to start the first day of the rest of my life by enlisting in the United States Army. At 18, I was convinced I knew what it was I wanted to do with my life. Little did I know at that moment how much I still had left to learn. I served my country for nearly 11 years. It was during my time as a journalist on the battlefield that I saw my first glimpse into the power of medicine. It was also where I noted how fortunate those in the United States truly are when it comes to education about and prevention of the spread of disease. Seeing the lives of my brothers and sisters in arms saved with the intervention of modern medicine has had a profound impact on my desire to not only be a pharmacist but also my yearning
