Old School The Protagonist

In the book Old School the Protagonist and I share a few differences between our lifestyles and views on school. We also share a similar trait when it comes to being competitive and winning or wanting to become better at something. The protagonists is competitive through his literature and I am competitive through sports. This similar trait we share is important because keeps up our confidence and is what provides something to strive for.
The protagonists and I have our differences between our life styles. We are different because of the way we want others to see during our daily routine. When the protagonists came into “Old School” off his scholarship. He came with very few to lose. When he came to the school he didn't know anyone

The protagonists thinks of school as a place he attends everyday not because he likes it but, not because he doesn't. Though he is there all the time, he doesn't think as school as home base. From my impression he has given, he isn't very comfortable at school. He thinks of this school as a place of walls, and barriers. There are groupings of writers everywhere that all write about different things. He can't find a place or group that he finds comfortable and the school is rather of large and full of secrets. When the protagonists came, there were no friends that were with him. There wasn't anyone who he could go to where he could talk and discuss himself to.
The Protagonists shows his views of school when he says (“...”) He shows his views through words and what he's passionate about (literature). When I think of school I think of it as my home base. I have all my friends with me and I enjoy the environment. My school is small which I do not like at all . I like big environments with lots of people. I like big spaces where I can walk the same hall and see a different face each time.
By thinking of our different views on school it allows you to see both sides of the equation. It allows you to know what you like and what you don't like about things. Since the protagonists and i have a different view on school i have learned a little bit about how one's view may affect other things in there life. He stays

The protagonists and I share a similar trait through close levels of competition. The protagonists way of competition is more revolved around his work/ literature and through his educational experiences. He takes his writing /literature serious. Making goals for himself, he enters his works/ideas into contests and advanced writing exams which allows himself to gain strategies and advice learning from other people's strengths or mistakes. This allows him to set and reach those competition goals and move higher in the ranks. My way of showing competition is shown in a more physical sense. Through Athletic sports and any physical manner, including workouts are a way of how I show my competitiveness, I start low, then set goals gaining more strategies and flexibility, allowing me to move up in the ranks. The one thing that really glues our similar traits of competition together is the steps we both create for ourselves. One; we have an idea, Two; we try out that idea , Three; we learn from the mistakes and note what worked, And Four; we watch , listen , take in advice, and try again with a different strategy. That is what gives the protagonists and I strength and confidence to move on , It is what allows us to grow while moving up in the ranks becoming better each

Their diction allows the reader’s to empathize with their experiences and relate emotionally. Since the audience now is comprised mainly of students in the American school system, the audience is able to empathize on a deeper level. As for myself, I have encountered struggles with the sense of belonging within the school system. Although my reasons for these struggles are different than these two authors, I was able to emotionally relate and put myself in their shoes.…

“We are so caught up in the myths of the best and brightest and the self made that we think outliers spring naturally from the earth” (Gladwell 268). People believe that outliers come from nowhere, as if they have risen up from the earth. However, people also believe that dedication and talent create outliers. The truth is that what one is born into is what defines an individual. One’s social background forms the type of person you are and is what can define an outlier, one who stands apart from others according to advantages that he has no control over.…

School is said to be 'a second home' to many students. It is said because we are there most of the time and that's where we meet a lot of new people and how we interact and also how we view ourselves. School is a big factor towards how we identify ourselves because at school, you worry about how people view you and what they think about you. For me, I never cared about anything people said or thought about me.
