“You have two minutes to talk about yourself”, said the Professor
I started by telling my classmates about myself, the things that I have done in the past, my academics, and that I was the monitor of the class since my childhood and the captain of the group in the school. I told them why I should be elected as the In-charge Class Representative of the class and eventually won the elections with a majority. That was the first time I understood that I had the capability to influence others. There was no stopping to me, I never looked back after that. I took every opportunity that came in my way to make myself a better leader, a better individual for that matter. I was the team lead of all the projects that I have done in the college and outside

After attending karate for 11 years, I have taken a weekly position teaching. Though sometimes I teach adults, I usually teach children, and while they have a difficult time focusing for any long period of time, the joy and satisfaction of seeing them succeed and pass tests is wonderful. I began tutoring when a young girl had struggled to pass belt test after multiple tries, so after talking to her and her parents we arranged a weekly schedule to focus on her largest obstacles. With just 4 sessions together she was able to pass the rank exam without any difficulties.…

Being a person in a leadership role, I have felt some feelings I never want to forget, while on the other hand there are some feelings I wish I could forget. One thing that has really stuck with me after reviewing what my leadership style is that I have a genuine feeling for people and want to help people. I will not be one of those leaders who just bosses people around because they can. I want to be a leader that years after I am gone, people will still talk about how I cared for people and want the best for them. This class really helped me find myself, and I don’t think I would have found this out for a long time if it weren’t for this class.…

I was born in 1984 and started school in 1989. Watching the movie The Bottom Line in Education 1980 to the Present, gave me a perspective of the Education system while I was growing up. I didn’t realize what my teachers and educators were subjected to. As a child I was very naive, which is what I was supposed to be. I never thought that my school was overcrowded or operating below any standards.…

My vision is to bring people together to create positive change, but this cannot happen without being able to effectively manage others to implement change. In order to become a stronger leader, I plan on integrating my values and motivations with my personal abilities in my endeavours. By playing to my strengths, as well as recognizing my personal areas of improvement, I will be able to develop confidence as a leader. I aspire to become a role model for others who want to influence change, similar to how Craig Kielburger inspired me when I was younger. An example of this is my ability to speak publically and communicate my ideas clearly.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

There are multiple ways I am a leader within my community. The main way I lead my peers is through sports. I have been on my different teams; volleyball, basketball, track, and softball have all given me the opportunity to build my character and to lead by example. I was the volleyball team captain for my junior and senior year, so many of the younger girls were looking up to me. The best way to lead is by your actions; I would always go hard in practices and games to show the underclassmen that in order to get the best results, you need to give it your all.…

Since starting high school, my interest in classroom learning had dropped quite significantly. I felt like grades were just a game, and that I should be out in the world learning things I deemed "practical life skills." My senior year I was able to mentor in a classroom of fourth graders for one period, ever other day. I took the class thinking it would be an easy and fun way to spend an hour an a half.…

In middle school, I found myself to be more quiet, shy, and less outspoken than my peers. I joined all the same clubs and had the same interests as my peers, such as student council and National Junior Honors Society, but my introverted personality kept me from exploring new leadership roles. As I finished middle school and began my high school career, I brought my introverted personality with me. As first semester progressed, I joined clubs in school that encouraged an open mind and voice, specifically Key Club International, the world's largest, student-led, community service organization. In Key Club, I met students with open minds and strong leadership qualities.…

My leadership philosophy is one that is rooted in the strong belief that it must be a continuous quest to motivate all students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners, while possessing outstanding character. This includes assisting students with discovering their talents and interests, therefore developing a love of learning, while developing into ethical, productive citizens. Accomplishing this requires a leader who is knowledgeable in pedagogy and curriculum, including the use of data and current assessments to enhance instruction, and who possesses outstanding communication skills, the ability to manage an operation’s resources effectively, promotes collaboration and teamwork, and is passionate and committed to helping students learn. I believe that my interpersonal skills will be my biggest strength as an educational leader. Through frequent, honest communication, and my enthusiasm for the subject, I will demonstrate understanding and compassion for those around me, therefore building trusting relationships.…
