Kayleigh Underwood All throughout my life, I have faced many challenges. Some were more difficult than others, but I believe all of them have shaped me into who I am today. If I could take one lesson I learned in high school and never forget it, it would be that my challenges and the outcomes to these challenges do not define me. What defines me is how I respond to these challenges.…
For example, I knew how to create a goal but not a detailed one were its something I’m actually going to try. Like, on binder checks those goals we set I tried to achieve them so overall those helped to improve my binder check grades or even my Cornell Notes. One of the examples I saw on the WICOR board was mental preparedness and I was surprised because I actually do that. Reading-Reading has helped me become a better student because now I am not only able to read books on my reading level but above it as well. The more I read this year the more I grew with knowledge and understanding.…
I think my reading has improved because I use better vocabulary and I can understand what I am reading. The reading strategies have helped me to become a better reader. I still rely on DJE, T2T like I did when I took basic reading as well. They are very helpful strategies that help me to read better and think about what I am reading. For this and other classes my goals are to understand what I am reading and being able to sum up what I read with very little difficulty.…
As a child, I would often struggle with reading assignments and I would lose focus on the subject. When I reminisce about those days, I recall those teachers like mechanics who did not fix the problems but sent the bill anyway. With that said, we can only focus today on where we want to go and not where we have…
I also knew it, but I was lazy and careless. I am thankful that I have grown up and that I have begun to respect all of the opportunities given to me in life. The areas that I have improved in are definitely my study habits, and not being afraid to ask my teachers for extra help. I used to be afraid that my teachers would think I am stupid, and that they would judge me if I admitted to them that I didn’t know how to do something, or that I couldn’t do a problem. But I have recently grown to realize the it is essential to the learning process to ask your teacher 's question.…
My Learning Style My learning style is auditory, it can help me learn because all I have to do is make sure I listen and more than likely I will succeed. Also, this will help me in sports because if I listen, then I will always know what to do. Such as, different plays and my teammates advice. In addition, I already read out loud.…
I do not plan on transferring as most of my friends have, but I will to push myself to be proud of my decision I have made to stay at BC. I have gained, experience, knowledge, lost, and understand most things that I have been exposed to in my twenty years of life. One goal I have is pass the GKE (General Knowledge Exam). The first step would be to fully understand what the GKE is and what kind of tests I need to do to pass this exam. The second step would be to study as much as possible to ensure a passing score.…
An accomplishment that i'm very proud of is the way how i grew out of boy and into a man. When i first got into high school i was sort of overwhelmed with trying to fit in. I cared so much of trying to fit in within certain types of people, that I had lost focus on many things especially my grades and school. After noticing a enormous drop off of my grades and myself, I desperately tried to improve myself because i felt like i was disappointing my future self and my family. But because I tried to desperately try to improve myself anyway, I took big steps instead of little steps to help open the door of improvement.…
I feel that I have improved in many skills throughout this course but also have many skills that I have found that I need to improve more. The skills that I have developed throughout the units of the course are my reading and writing. The skills that I still need improving still are my communication skills and my viewing skills. Firstly I have improved my reading skills.…
This week, I dove right in and started picking up a couple of things in Mrs. Herrold's classroom. To begin, I took over the morning routine of the "Daily Fix-It" worksheets, calendar, and morning meeting. Through morning meeting, I was able to get to know the students a little bit better. I asked them questions like: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" "What is your favorite animal?"…
When I started out I wanted to be a good student I wasn’t going to be one of those high school druggies that never did anything, and that is how I was. I was a very shy and quiet person I didn’t stand out in anyway or anything. Then I met him. The “man” who was going to be there forever who I would always be with, I did believe him and I changed so that way I could be like him and like the things that he liked. Well he like weed, and drinking.…
Many times when one thinks of being an RA the financial benefits of the job opportunity becomes the focus. While I am happy about those awesome benefits those are not my only primary focuses. I am hoping to become an RA because I enjoy working with other people, developing professional skills, and building a community. Being a Sociology major, this experience will allow me to really have an on hands training of what I am learning here in my classrooms at U.C. Berkeley. I know that I am capable of handling this position as being an RA, because of my past experiences working with elderly people and also working with high school students.…
What makes me different from other students is I have lived in several states so I am confident adjusting to new surroundings is achievable. Also, I am comfortable in asking questions and seeking out answers on my own. Learning is enjoyable to me as I have attended private and public during my kindergarten to high schools journey striving at both settings.…
I completely understand how deciding on a theme is overwhelming. I do the same things you do, but I think that's what makes a paper better. I spend more time doing the research, editing than writing the paper itself. I just get frustrated half of the time while trying to decide which piece to use for a research…
I started to change the ways of my studying every day instead of being a couch potato and just staring at the TV watching sports for hours on daily basis. This year in English class, I’ve learned that if you want to become a better writer, you have to use some of your creative writing skills. Also I have learned how to use my reading skills while…
