Personal Narrative: If I Spent On A Missions Trip

Decent Essays
If I could do something I've never done before, I would go on a missions trip. I would choose to do this because ever since I was younger, about in seventh grade, I have felt a call to go to Japan and minister. I feel like if God has given me the idea, it is meant to happen sometime in his plan for me. I would also want to go on a missions trip because that is what God has commanded us to do; spread his word. Taking this opportunity and using it to honor God would be just what he would want me to

You would think people who have next to nothing in their lives, would want everything they could have their hands on. After spending a week with people who had less then me, I understood that I was completely wrong. I learned that people who have nothing are the most caring and empathetic. The people who lived at the camp we were staying at, greeted us with open arms and warm hearts. As a mission team, we were obviously caring people.…

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

30 Day Expense Tracking Essay To begin, I didn’t know what to expect from doing this expense tracking assignment. The only challenge I faced was trying to remember about the worksheet throughout these 30 days. Luckily I have a great memory of what I’ve done in past days only when it comes down to what I've used my money on. Well, the assignment did get me to finally notice what I did use my money for and how wisely it was used. To end it off, this assignment was something very unusual to any other assignment that I had because I never been given a task to keep track of what I use my money on.…

Every year my church nominates fifteen young adults to go on an annual mission trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. I was honored when I was selected to go because it showed me that the adults in my life recognized the hard work and dedication I am willing to put into everything I do. Through out the whole summer I was on the vacation bible school committee and organized food, games, and crafts for the children that we would be interacting with. But then, about a month before we were set to leave for the trip, my best friend asked me if I would like to go to Cancun with her family because her sister couldn't make it but, it was the same week that the mission trip was happening. This desicion was very hard for me.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…

When I visited Iraq, I saw families who lived in tents in the scorching hot desert. The intense poverty was nothing like I had seen in person before. Most Americans can only imagine what a country such as Iraq, which is plagued with corruption and war, is like. When I visited Iraq, the country exposed me to the horrors it possesses. The first one would be to the Dominican Republic. Then, after that trip I would be home for three days then I would leave for Ecuador, a place I had not been before. These two trips are the ones I want to focus on, because God showed me some impactful things on these two trips. Now, on these trips, something always seems to stay true, and that is I am always taught lessons. Some of the lessons are the same, and every time I go on a mission trip I am reminded of these lessons.…

It’s early in the morning, 7 am to be precise. The sound of percolating coffee can be heard from the kitchen, as its eye opening aroma begins to fill the air. Once again, I find myself in my daily routine, searching for something to keep me entertained. I sit down at the kitchen table and open my laptop. My eyes are still crusty from a wishful night of good sleep, as I type in my Facebook user name and password.…
