Personal Narrative: If I Had To Wake Up To A Zombie Apocalypse

Improved Essays
If I were to wake up to a zombie apocalypse I would figure out what places in my own home were weak spots and reinforce with whatever materials are available in the current place(being my house and garage). After I have reinforced my house I would find whatever I can use as a weapon, whether it be a stick or my dad’s .45, anything hard and sturdy could be used as a weapon. Knowing I am not the healthiest person, I would have to get beefy and would start to work out doing push-ups and running or cycling like I am running away from zombies to build cardio so it is easier to run if I have no other options. I would find whatever fuel sources I have to fill up the f-250 in front of my house, even if it is not the most fuel efficient it would do

Lauro and Embry in “A Zombie Manifesto: The Nonhuman Condition in the Era of Advanced Capitalism” correlate the different parts of the zombie to what they represent. In their writing they state “The zombie is historically tied to, and has been read alongside, the expansion of global capitalism.” (96)…

If zombies did happen to come to St.Labre, first I would go and find a knife or something to protect myself with while I try and get to a safe and secure spot with food, water, and shelter then i would grab all my friends that weren’t zombies and I would go over to the spot that would keep us safe and fed. If zombies were to attack St. Labre while we were in school this is what i would in a few short sentences but continue on to read and i will tell you more. My basic needs of surviving a zombie attack would be having shelter, protection or as in a defensive shelter to protect me and whoever else is with me away from the zombies, also food, and water. This source seems to be unbiased and scholarly, however, whenever the CDC references a zombie apocalypse the tone is more satirical. Pallatt found this source to be effective when deciding if social media would be the best way to communicate because it states that, “social media use increases during crises and disasters, when some people turn to the Internet and social media to seek or share information or support” (CDC’s Use). On the other hand, the CDC doesn’t show serious concern for the situation since it did not go through the full process a normal campaing would. It describes the campaign for zombie preparedness as, “a product of attention and considered thought, [however,] it did not undergo extended planning with “focus groups,” discussions of “theory,” or a “drawn-out formalized process” (CDC’s Use). Even though only a part of the research was helpful for Pallatt, it probably gave her more accurate information then her last…

If the zombie apocalypse were to occur and I am trapped at school, I’m using the knowledge gained from I Am Legend to survive. My survival plan is comprised of three parts. First and foremost, I would try my best to barricade any and all possible entrances to the school expect for two. These two entrances would be set in a place where only I could reach, somewhere high and lofty, requiring upper body strength and agility in order to get to them. Now these escape routes would also be look out points, they could be ways of escape if zombies were to ever break in and over throw my fort, or they could be used for me to locate the enemy at all time.…

The creation of monsters like vampires and zombies presents itself as an allegory the “day to day existence.” Articles like “Why Vampires Never Die” by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan and “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead “ by Chuck Klosterman emphasizes the correlation between folktale and reality. The difference between Folktale and reality is that folktale and reality is that folktale are variations of stories from many cultures, while reality is something that exist and can be proven. This creates room for the idea of death to be a significant aspect to the rise of monstrous beings, as listed prior. The idea of what happens after life, known as death varies amongst cultures and…

The simplicity of a zombie's life is often a state humans try to achieve. A zombie's daily life and nutrition revolves around their desire for human flesh, blood and brains. Since the collapse of human society, pesky worries like the weather, school, anxiety, appearance, or the office meeting are of zero concern now. They lack a nervous system so pain and head injuries don't ever cross their dead minds. Threats of terrorism, natural disasters, and crime become weightless in their lives since all zombies require one desire.…

“A lot of modern life is exactly like slaughtering zombies.” This statement is true in the eyes of Chuck Klosterman, where he expresses opinions in his article “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead”. In correlation, to the movie Warm Bodies directed by Jonathan Levine one can see that there are many things that we can relate to in modern life that can also be seen in a zombie apocalypse world. For example, in both worlds you can see that once we adapt to our daily lives of work, school, invasion of zombies, and disease, we end up developing a predictable routine in life, no matter the situation. All in all, I believe that there are similarities in a zombie flesh eating world and in the modern world we live in today, we ourselves…

Could you ever imagine waking up one day and everything was different? Not being able to be sprawled out in your perfectly good bed each morning, but waking up in various locations for protection. Having to carry some sort of weapon every time you go outside just in case you run into a pack of zombies looking for fresh flesh. This all seemed too much and it was only my first year at Missouri State. A zombie apocalypse was not something I expected from college, especially to be one of the few survivors’ left on campus.…
