Personal Narrative: If I Had To Move

Decent Essays
I have had to move a few times. I remember being sad, not wanting to leave my friends behind. I remember after packing and coming back to the house to pick up the last few things and looking around at the empty house. It all felt wrong. If we had to move again, I would not be happy about it. I have so many great friends and I could not imagine going to school and hanging out with anyone else. I would miss my home and town. It would be hard to get used to a new school and a new community.

I loved moving. You would think that packing my belongings and meeting new people would make you hate moving, but for me that wasn’t the case. Changing environments was great for me; I loved being able to meet different people and trying new activities each time. In the beginning this was not the life I envisioned for myself. I saw myself always living on the island, going to college there, and maybe traveling around the world, but always going back home.…

When I moved to Orlando, Florida, I was twelve years old. I did not know what to expect when it came to the Orlando weather, their school system or their people. My mom called me one day when I was on my way home from school and told me we would be moving, at the time I did not know where we were moving to, but I knew I was not going to be okay with moving away from my neighborhood friends who I have been friends with since the second grade. Once I came home, the majority of our house was already in boxes and I refused to pack any of my belongings because at the time I did not want to accept the fact that we were moving to an entire different state.…
